Child injury at crèche advice
I am looking to get some advice or other people experiences where their child got injured at crèche.
We collected my son (3.5 years old) from crèche and he was not himself when picking him up. Staff mentioned he wasn’t himself throughout the day. Crying at times and quicker to winge than usual. She outlined that all staff commented he was not himself. That they checked his temp 3 times but it was not high so did not ring us. When getting him into the car he was crying and complaining of a sore shoulder.
At home he continued complaining of the pain and we could see he was actively avoiding moving or using his arm. He mentioned he fell in crèche so we rang the crèche (15 mins after collection) as they had not mentioned any fall. They confirmed that he told the staff that he fell and hurt himself but no one had witnessed it and he was able to lift his arm at the time so they thought nothing of it.
That evening we take him to the emergency clinic and get him checked and turns out he has a fractured collarbone. The fall must have been pretty bad to cause this injury.
The recovery time for this will be a minimum of 3-4 weeks and he needs to wear a sling for the duration. Our concerns are if the crèche will even take him if he is wearing a sling. Will this affect our NCS if they won’t take him and he is out for a few weeks.
Has anyone experienced a similar scenario?
