Best model/chipset and video mods for snes?
Well my oldie UN1116 shit the bed today. Thank you TC1 chip. Ive done everything i can to tune it, i need a replacement. But id like to be playing this system 30 years from now. I know its highly unrealistic, but im looking for advice on how to buy the best console that will give me the best chance at doing that.
Heard a 1CHIP-03 with professional RGB Bypass THS7374 is the best, but i also saw people saying “THS7374 is the cheapest chip they couldve used, and you get what you pay for.”
Ive heard minis/jrs are much more reliable though, and the 03 chip is only in the big boi. (Personally i prefer the look of the big boi, but i wouldnt mind a jr if it is superior.) i know many repair shops are full of OG snes’, but im also pretty sure the junior is that much less common that this would track anyways.
Currently, im just plugging it straight in with the cables that came in the box, into a old tv. Not crt, but its as close as i got.
Id like to get the retrotink 4k and do scart at some point. I wouldnt mind modding them for this, and i know i will likely have to.
If you have any recommendations, please include whether it is a jr or OG model im looking for, and what UC # or UN # range i should be looking for. I have no idea how to tell between a chip 1 2 and 3 on an ebay listing without seeing the motherboard. Thanks
