What do you guys think? Could it be a legendary? Mythical? Or just common pokemon?

Shadow Puppet is prevalent in Southeast Asia, in Indonesia and Malaysia its called as Wayang ( More famous form of Wayang is Wayang Kulit ).

It is uncertain whether the shadow theatre is indigenous to Java or was brought from India, but the wayang kulit technique of having a single seated puppeteer who manipulates puppets, sings, chants narration, and speaks dialogue seems to be an Indonesian invention. Unlike most court arts, wayang kulit has had centuries of performance in the folk tradition as well, so that today, with several thousand puppeteers active, it is the strongest traditional theatre form in Southeast Asia.

Wayang kulit (Javanese: ꦮꦪꦁꦏꦸꦭꦶꦠ꧀ ) is a traditional form of shadow puppetry originally found in the cultures of Java and Bali in Indonesia. In a wayang kulit performance, the puppet figures are rear-projected on a taut linen screen with a coconut oil (or electric) light. The dalang (shadow artist) manipulates carved leather figures between the lamp and the screen to bring the shadows to life. The narratives of wayang kulit often have to do with the major theme of good vs. evil.

Wayang kulit is one of the many different forms of wayang theatre found in Indonesia; the others include wayang beber, wayang klitik, wayang golek, wayang topeng, and wayang wong. Wayang kulit is among the best known, offering a unique combination of ritual, lesson and entertainment.

On 7 November 2003, UNESCO designated Wayang the flat leather shadow puppet (wayang kulit), the flat wooden puppet (wayang klitik), and the three-dimensional wooden puppet (wayang golek) theatre, as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. In return for the acknowledgment, UNESCO required Indonesians to preserve the tradition.

In my prediction wayang/shadow puppet could be the mythical pokemon like Gen 9's Pecharunt, but i want to know what you guys think.

In my fan scenario, MC, MC's Mom, and their friends gonna watch the Wayang Kulit performance and when the show start eerie atmosphere envelop the surrounding, but MC try to ignore it, the MC fail to notice that shadows bind itself to their friends and their mom, when the show ended MC's mom and friends act stiffly and started dancing like a Shadow puppet, the Shadow puppet pokemon goal is to watch people dance for its own entertainment for Eternity.

After i did some research, here are more Pokemon that i desperately need in Wiwa, although likely it wont happen.

But before we start, did you know?

Indonesia is home to World's Oldest cave art.

World’s oldest cave art discovered in Indonesia’s Muna island

Indonesia and the surrounding region is known for some of the world’s most ancient archaeological finds.

Archaeologists have found that handprints stencilled on limestone caves on the Indonesian island of Muna could be up to 67,800 years old, making them the oldest known paintings in the world.

The tan-coloured drawings analysed by Indonesian and Australian researchers were made by blowing pigment over hands placed against the cave walls, leaving an outline, scientists said on Wednesday.

Now, lets start with animal that i desperately need in Wiwa.

  1. Blind Cave Fish

There are more than 200 scientifically described species of obligate cavefish found on all continents, except Antarctica.

In southeast asia, especially Indonesia there are 6 officially described endemic species of Blind Cave fish.

One of its lates found species is :

Klapanunggal blind cave barb (Barbodes klapanunggalensis), known locally as wader buta,[1] is a species of barb from the Klapanunggal karst area of Bogor Regency, West Java. It is a cavefish, being endemic to water bodies within the caves of the region; typical of cavefish (though not of Barbodes), B. klapanunggalensis is eyeless and unpigmented, and it can be distinguished from its congeners by multiple other features, including enlarged paired fins. Its small population number may be threatened by human development, such as through mining for limestone, though it is currently not under any known threat due to its isolation.

B. klapanunggalensis is a cavefish, and similar to two other species of Barbodes; B. microps and B. pyrpholeos in lacking pigmentation. The species is the only Barbodes to lack eyes and the orbital rim; the space is replaced by an "orbital concavity" which is "fully closed by an epidermal layer". Other diagnostic morphological features include its pectoral and pelvic fins being relatively long, and specific bodily proportions. B. klapanunggalensis has a deep body, which is deepest around the dorsal fin origin. The species has two pairs of maxillary barbels around its subterminal mouth, with the posterior (rearwards) pair being longer. They possess cycloid scales and around 12 short gill rakers.

The type specimens are 63.8 mm (2.51 in) and 73 mm (2.9 in) in standard length.

  1. Borneo Pygmy Elephant

The Borneo elephant, also called the Bornean elephant or the Borneo pygmy elephant, is a subspecies of Asian elephant (Elephas maximus) that inhabits northeastern Borneo, in Indonesia and Malaysia. Its origin remains the subject of debate. A definitive subspecific classification as Elephas maximus borneensis awaits a detailed range-wide morphometric and genetic study. In 2024, the Borneo elephant was listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List as the population has declined by at least 50% over the last three generations, estimated to be 60–75 years. It is preeminently threatened by loss, degradation and fragmentation of habitat.

The Sultan of Sulu was thought to have introduced captive elephants to Borneo in the 18th century, which were released into the jungle.[2] Comparison of the Borneo elephant population to putative source populations in DNA analysis indicates that the Borneo elephants are more likely to have derived from Sundaic stock and are indigenous to Borneo, rather than having been introduced by humans. The genetic divergence of Borneo elephants warrants their recognition as a separate evolutionarily significant unit.

  1. Babirusa ( Deer-pig )

Babirusas, also called deer-pigs (Indonesian: babi rusa), are a genus, Babyrousa, in the swine family found in the Indonesian islands of Sulawesi, Togian, Sula and Buru. Previously all members of this genus were considered part of a single species, B. babyrussa, but in 2002 they were split into several species. The Buru babirusa is now restricted to animals from Buru and Sula, whereas the best-known species, the North Sulawesi babirusa, is named B. celebensis. The males have prominent upwards incurving canine tusks, which pierce the flesh in the snout.

  1. Fanged Frog

Limnonectes is a genus of fork-tongued frogs of 91 known species, but new ones are still being described occasionally. They are collectively known as fanged frogs because they tend to have unusually large teeth, which are small or absent in other frogs.

These frogs are found throughout East and Southeast Asia, most commonly near forest streams. Multiple species of Limnonectes may occupy the same area in harmony. Large-bodied species cluster around fast rivers, while smaller ones live among leaf-litter or on stream banks. The Indonesian island of Sulawesi is home to at least 15 species of this frog, only four of which have been formally described

Indonesia: Hotspots include Sulawesi (home to over 15 species, including the world's smallest fanged frog), Sumatra, and Java (the home of the Fanged River Frog). New species, like those in the Meratus Mountains of Borneo, are also being documented

The Philippines: Several large-bodied species, such as the Mindanao Fanged Frog and the Luzon Fanged Frog, are endemic to the archipelago

Mainland Southeast Asia: Fanged frogs are also widely distributed in countries like Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia.

  1. Blind Lizard

Dibamidae or blind skinks is a family of lizards characterized by their elongated cylindrical body and an apparent lack of limbs. Female dibamids are entirely limbless and the males retain small flap-like hind limbs, which they use to grip their partner during mating. They have a rigidly fused skull, lack pterygoid teeth and external ears. Their eyes are greatly reduced, and covered with a scale.

They are small insectivorous lizards, with long, slender bodies, adapted for burrowing into the soil. They usually lay one egg with a hard, calcified shell, rather than the leathery shells typical of many other reptile groups.

The family Dibamidae has two genera, Dibamus with 23 species native to Southeast Asia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and western New Guinea and the monotypic Anelytropsis native to Mexico. Recent phylogenetic analyses place the dibamids as the sister clade to all the other lizards and snakes or classify them as sharing a common ancestor with the infraorder Gekkota, with Dibamidae and Gekkota forming the sister clade to all other squamates. Hoeckosaurus from the Oligocene of Mongolia represents the only fossil record of the group.

  1. Pygmy Tarsier

The pygmy tarsier (Tarsius pumilus), also known as the mountain tarsier or the lesser spectral tarsier, is a nocturnal primate found in central Sulawesi, Indonesia, in an area with lower vegetative species diversity than the lowland tropical forests. The pygmy tarsier was believed to have become extinct in the early 20th century. Then, in 2000, Indonesian scientists accidentally killed one while trapping rats. The first pygmy tarsiers seen alive since the 1920s were found by a research team led by Dr. Sharon Gursky and Ph.D. student Nanda Grow from Texas A&M University on Mount Rore Katimbo in Lore Lindu National Park in August 2008. The two males and single female (a fourth escaped) were captured using nets, and were radio collared to track their movements. As the first live pygmy tarsiers seen in 80-plus years, these captures dispelled the belief among some primatologists that the species was extinct.

Whats your thought? I would love to know whats the typing that will suit these animals as pokemon.

More prediction! I hope they add lots of Ghost Pokemon, My theory regarding the theme of the new starters, also Tropius might get something new!

Southeast Asia is one of region that absolutely love horror movies, for example : Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Philippines produce lots of Horror movies.

Supranatural things and believes are part of daily life especially in the rural area.

Horror films in Asia have been noted as being inspired by national, cultural or religious folklore, particularly beliefs in ghosts or spirits. In Asian Horror, Andy Richards writes that there is a "widespread and engrained acceptance of supernatural forces" in many Asian cultures, and suggests this is related to animist, pantheist and karmic religious traditions, as in Buddhism and Shintoism. Although Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Korean horror has arguably received the most international attention, Asian horror films also makes up a considerable proportion of Cambodian and Malaysian cinema.

Horror movie is cheap to produce, and the audience can relate easily due to how superstitious southeast asia people is, especially in Indonesia as one of largest horror movie consumer.

Horror movies are everywhere based on my experience as southeast asian, so does believing in superstition!

Anyway, we can expect more ghost type in Wiwa!!!

E.g.

Pocong : Shrouded ghost, it resembles a recently deceased body wrapped tightly from head to toe in a white burial shroud, with ties at the top of the head, neck, and under the feet, its heavily influenced by islamic believes.

Kuntilanak : is often depicted as a long-haired woman dressed in white. She lures in unsuspecting men to incite fear and enact revenge. Signs that a Kuntilanak is nearby include the sound of an infant crying and the smell of a decaying corpse or the plumeria flower

And There's many other Ghost that i want to appear in Wiwa.

Since i already cover that people in southeast asia believe in Supranatural, i theorize that the starter theme might be Animal that have mystical relation, like Barong, Naga, Garuda etc. That can be used as Transportation.

I don't have other reasoning as to why i theorize why they might be based off Mystical ( is it Mystical or Mythical? ) creature.

As for Tropius, we Might get something... Or so i hope...

Good news is that Papua New Guinea and West Papua have Giant Highland Banana or Musa Ingens!!!

The plant species Musa ingens, also known as the giant highland banana or Oem, is the physically largest member of the family Musaceae and the only member of the section Ingentimusa.

So we might get another Banana Pokemon, or Something for Tropius!!!!

Edit : I forgot to mention but Vileplume might get something too!!! Indonesia is home to Rafflesia Arnoldi and Titan Arum!!!

Amorphophallus titanum, the titan arum, is a flowering plant in the family Araceae. It has a large unbranched inflorescence, a tall single leaf branched like a tree, and a heavy tuber which enables the plant to produce the inflorescence. A. titanum is endemic to rainforests on the Indonesian island of Sumatra

Rafflesia arnoldii is a species of flowering plant in the parasitic genus Rafflesia within the family Rafflesiaceae. It is native to the rainforests of Sumatra and Borneo. It is commonly known as the corpse flower or giant padma. The former name comes from its smell being similar to that of decaying flesh.

Here's some more new pokemon that Gamefreak need to add in wiwa.

Im like 90% sure that there will be Barong pokemon, but other than that, I needed Barong to have other detail that is having gamelan as accessory, because Barong always accompanied with the sound of Gamelan ( an Indonesian traditional instrument ) so without gamelan, i think it wouldn't be complete.

Maybe they can make separate pokemon for gamelan though.

Theres also some more pokemon that i want :

— Cendrawasih, also called as the bird of paradise.

Its exceptional beauty makes Cendrawasih named "The Bird of Paradise" by the British people, who previously refused to believe in its existence because of their beauty. Cendrawasih was used as a gift for the Kings in 1522 after the European acknowledging the bird's existence.

Its possible that Cendrawasih can be a legendary for winds, but it can also be Browt third stage evolution, other than Kākāpō, and Cassowary theory for Browt.

— Southeast asian ghost, there's lot of ghost in SEA that i want to be reference for Pokemon.

— Orchid Pokemon, since Wiwa intro started with Orchid, especially Moth Orchid, or Indonesian National Flower ( Other than White Jasmine and Raflessia )

— Coffee Pokemon, Indonesia is famous for its Luwak Coffee.

Kopi luwak, also known as civet coffee, is a coffee that consists of partially digested coffee cherries, which have been eaten and defecated by the Asian palm civet. The cherries are fermented as they pass through a civet's intestines, and after being defecated with other fecal matter, they are collected.

The origin of kopi luwak is closely connected to the history of coffee production in Indonesia; Dutch colonialists established coffee plantations in Indonesia and imported beans from Yemen. In the 19th century, farmers in central Java started to brew and drink coffee from excreted beans collected at their plantations.

My theory about Legendary/Mythical

Hello, i already made the same post about Wiwa legendary prediction, but i will cover another mythology, in hope that we might get a mermaid legendary in Wiwa...

One of prominent goddess in Indonesia, is Nyai Roro Kidul, the Queen of Southern Sea, she's usually depicted as a beautiful woman who can transform into a mermaid.

She is fierce and command Kingdom of Phantom beneath the ocean, lots of people came to the beach to offer for prayers, and shes also worshipped by black magic believers.

Shes usually depicted with Fish, Serpent, Naga, as she can shapeshift.

Her story has many version and one of the version that i love is that, She is a beautiful princess, She got cursed by a witch because of her jealous siblings doesn't want her to inherit her father throne.

In the morning, her father who doesn't believe what she said thought that she was a witch, and her beautiful appearance was a facade to hide her true self and expel her fom the kingdom.

Heartbroken, Alone, and suffering, she wandered the land for seven days and seven nights before reaching the southern coast of Java.

There, a mysterious voice called to her from the roaring ocean, and told her to jump into the sea.

Desperate and exhausted, Dewi Kadita threw herself into the powerful waters of the southern Javanese ocean. But instead of dying, the sea transformed her.

The saltwater healed her wounds, removing every scar and curse from her body. When she emerged, she was even more radiant than before, no longer human, but something far more powerful.

She was crowned as Nyi Roro Kidul, the immortal queen and guardian of the Southern sea.

From that moment on, she ruled the vast waters of the Indian Ocean south of Java, commanding waves, storms, and spirits that dwell beneath the sea.

Edit : i forgot to add the theory, BUT, we might get Mermaid / Serpent Pokemon Legendary based off Nyai Roro Kidul due to how influential this figure is, aint no way they Gonna leave Nyai Roro kidul out.

My Prediction on Some Pokemon that will be introduced in Wiwa

( I'm newbie in Pokemon world and never play any pokemon games, i only know Pokemon from Anime that was aired when i was a child, so discussion and correction is very appreciated. )

Since Wiwa seem to be based on Southeast Asia, i think we might get lots of new ghost type pokemon, other than that we might get more psychic or fairy type too.

In southeast asia, believe regarding supranatural is quite strong, im speaking from my experience, here most people always believe in some supranatural stuff.

I theorized that one of the legendaries might have ghost type and we might get a Pokemon Legendaries that try to devour Sun/Moon ( is it the same with Pokemon Sun and Moon Legendaries? ), E.g. Bakunawa and Minokawa ( The Dragon Bird who eat The Sun, and Moon Eating Serpent ) from Philippine, Phra Rahu ( Deity who's associated with eclipses, destiny, and the fluctuating nature of human life ) from Thailand, and Batara Kala ( God of Time, Underworld, Death, and Destruction ) from Indonesia

( i will cover only Batara Kala because im more familiar with Mythology from my region, so i hope my SEAbling can help me to elaborate more about Bakunawa & Minokawa, also Phra Rahu or other SEA country that have sun/moon devouring entity )

— In Indonesia we have Batara Kala, God of Time ( Because he symbolize ends of Life ), Death/Underworld, and Destruction that is believed to be the cause of Solar/Lunar Eclipse.

— Batara Kala is a Giant, hes more like an Undead/Demon because of his appearance and trait, depicted as Malicious entity, He is from hindu Mythology, prominent in Java and Bali.

— According to legend, Batara Kala is the son of Batara Guru (the Javanese version of Shiva). Batara Guru has a very beautiful wife named Dewi Uma (Parvati). One day Batara Guru, in a fit of uncontrolled lust, forced himself on Dewi Uma. They had sexual intercourse on top of his vahana Nandi, a divine cow. This behavior ashamed Uma, who cursed both of them so they appeared as fearsome and ugly ogres. This fierce form of Dewi Uma is also known in Hinduism as Durga. From this relationship, Batara Kala was born with the appearance of an ogre.

— Another origin story is that he was conceived when a drop of Shiva's semen was swallowed by a fish.

— Batara Kala is described as having an insatiable appetite and being very rude. He was sent by the devas to Earth to punish humans for their evil habits. However, Batara Kala was interested only in devouring humans to satisfy his appetite. Alarmed, the devas then recalled Batara Kala from the Earth. He later became ruler of the underworld, together with the goddess Setesuyara.

— Traditionally, Javanese people try to obtain his favor, as the god of time and destruction, to prevent misfortune, especially to children. Exorcism ceremonies, called ruwatan, are held for children born under "unlucky" circumstances, such as being born feet-first. This is to prevent such children from being devoured by Batara Kala. This ceremony usually includes a wayang (Javanese shadow puppets) performance and a selamatan feast.

— In Javanese mythology, Batara Kala is the cause of the solar and lunar eclipses. As the god of darkness and the underworld, Batara Kala is the sworn enemy of the god of the Moon, Batara Candra and god of the Sun, Batara Surya. Sometimes he will try to devour the Sun or Moon, causing an eclipse. When this eclipse happens, Javanese villagers will try to save the Sun or Moon by offering sacrifices and banging lesung (traditional rice hulling equipment) or slit drums, to cause noise and make Batara Kala vomit. This is thought to release the Sun or Moon and stop the eclipse.

Other than that, there's Also Goddess of the Southern sea, Nyi Roro Kidul which i hope to be a reference as a legendary/mythical pokemon, she usually depicted as Mermaid Phantom who command Kingdom beneath the sea.

In Southeast Asia, there's Ghost Like Pocong, Sundel Bolong, Kuntilanak/Pontianak, Kuyang/Penanggalan/Krasue/Manananggal that i hope to be a reference for Pokemon.
