Technically if it’s very hot out and your AC isn’t running in DUs they have to shut it down

I just reread the workbench page on heat and it says to cool off in an air conditioned location. I interpret that to be if you don’t have a working AC then you are required to turn it off if it’s extremely hot

Leads say that DU can’t have a fan anymore

I was just told by a few leads that DU can’t have a fan anymore because SFS needs it and DU can go in the cooler and freezer to cool off. For years we’ve never had this issue until this year. The all the leads are the same as in previous years except for a few who were here last year

My store is dark, hot, and full of guests complaining how hot it is in the store

Almost every guest has been complaining about how hot it is in my store. We’ve told the guests that it’s hot in our store and there is currently nothing we can do.

How is your day going?

Tech issues that need to be fixed

I and others have discovered a handful of tech issues that corporate needs to fix.

When answering the phone sometimes it will put the ringer to vibrate

Acorn Scanner is fucked. I have to open MyDay and scan something to use it in other apps. It happens on multiple devices

FMOC, Verizon and all other legitimate Target/Vendor calls that aren’t in your phones caller ID don’t show up as a verified call.

Would you rather work more days or more hours per day

I’m curious to see if you’d rather work more days but less hours per day or more hours per day but less days.

Let’s say you have 20 hours one week. Would you rather work 5 days at 4 hours (in this scenario you get a lunch at 6 hours or more) or 2 days at 8 hours and 1 day at 4 hours?

If you don’t wear deodorant don’t expect us to help you

My store is starting to not help people who don’t use deodorant because they smell like shit and usually are rude to us. If you wear deodorant we will help you, if you don’t we won’t

A ton of guests have walked straight out of my store after realizing how hot it is

It’s so hot in my store that a ton of guests have straight up walked back out and didn’t purchase anything because of how hot it’s in my store. A guest called and said that she was going to purchase a ton of vacuums and have over a $1500 order but not anymore because of how hot it is at my store.

Corporate doesn’t realize that they are actually wasting money by not having the AC on because guests don’t shop if it’s hot

How hot does it have to be/feel like to shut DUs down?

My leads are under the impression that DUs can’t be shut off for heat if it’s able to be on at any store in the country at this temperature. We get snow not heat. Does your store ever shut down DUs for the heat?

To whoever is giving the front end less than the amount of required hours stop it.

The minimum number of hours a store needs for the front end is

Open-Close Daily Weekly
7am-7pm 48 336 12 hour stores
7am-10pm 60 420 15 hour stores
8am-10pm 56 392 14 hour stores MOST stores are 14 hours
8am-12am 64 488 16 hour stores
7am-12am 68 476 Q4

This is the absolute minimum needed to run the front end assuming you can steal the only cashier to get carts and run breaks and do the cash office while keeping SCO open.

This is assuming your store has DU and SCO.

Do not give the front end less than the minimum number of hours to have all 4 staffed from open to close

If I fill out an ethics report and leads start acting different towards me is that bad?

If I fill out an ethics report and leads start acting different towards me is that bad? I am thinking about filling out an ethics report about something that happened at my store. I'm afraid that they will figure out it's me who made it and will start giving me less hours and worse schedules. If that happens is there anything I can do about this?

Lids need to have a barcode scanned to take

Our fulfillment team is starting to not INF items that need lids without the lid being available again. Our DU team is delivering them to guests but when it's a ton of bins and they don't have time to count the lids they don't. The easiest solution is to have lids with a separate DPCI to scan at the register and with fulfillment. If you scan a lid the next scan must be a bin. If you're at SCO it acts like a gift card and if you don't scan a bin and requires a TM to take the lid from you if you don't have the bin.

Also remove the signage that says the guest can take as many lids as they want

College kids bought a walkie on Amazon and programmed it to our store

We had a few college kids around the store and one in their car playing random TikTok sounds. They played the one that’s “why do hot dogs come in a pack of 12 when I can only fit 10 in my ass” a ton today. Is there anything we can do to stop them? It’s really annoying and guests are starting to complain

Guest drove 4 hours just because we didn't answer the phone

This guest kept calling the store a lot. I didn't answer because I was busy. The guest drives to the store to demand we give her a nee doh that the app said we have. We didn't have any nee dohs. She then complained that we didn't answer the phone. If she called toys I would have answered with "Thank you for calling the LOCATION Target, we don't have any nee dohs or squishes, how else can we help you?" She was pissed because she drove 4 hours one way to not get what she came in for

Script I used when it was thundering and we had DUs on

I've read that some stores don't shut down DUs until a lead sees lightning. The official policy is that if any lead (or trusted TM if your store has one) sees on any weather app that lightning was detected within 6 miles DUs must be shutdown. If you hear thunder it also gets shutdown. When we couldn't turn DUs off properly I had a script I used when pissed off guests called the store. I changed it a bit for leads not turning it off.

Normal greeting. Guest complains about DU not delivering yet the app is letting them say their here. "I'm sorry about that but Target policy states that if we hear thunder or find out lightning has been detected within 6 miles we have to stay inside the store for 30 minutes from the last thunder or lightning strike within 6 miles. Unfortunately our leaders won't shut it down and the drive up team isn't going out because they want to stay safe. You can come inside and get your order and bring it to your car yourself or wait until it stops thundering and lightning for 30 minutes after, if the app lets you say you're on your way AND that you're here"
