How can we rely on this guy?!

I am going to get creamed here by Reds faithful. Just know, I am a massive Reds fan, so much so I am paying good money to fly to Phoenix in 100 degree August to visit Diamondbacks stadium to see the Reds in another ballpark. That being said, I think we overvalue Elly. These numbers don’t lie. Is the hype because he is flashy? He isn’t a great hitter, just better than average. His strikeouts are still a problem. He is fast but stolen bases have fallen off. I think we can all agree his defense is getting better but it isn’t elite. So what is so great or elite? I like a Elly but I battle his assumed greatness. I would choose Sal over Elly if 1 had to go. What would we be paying a player like Elly $700+M? I see more wins with Sal than Elly this year and it is year 1 with Sal. How many years do I need to wait for Elly to carry us? Again, I’ll get crushed here but I don’t care. These are real thoughts.

This year feels right. All the signs are there. This is our best shot in the 8 straight years we made the playoffs. This year and beyond! We have players locked up for many years. We have something special brewing. Loving the path we are on.
