My daughter will be working as a nurse in St. Johnsbury and living near Montpelier. I realize it’s a long commute, especially in winter.
For those familiar with that drive, would you recommend studded winter tires, or are good non-studded winter tires sufficient?
She’ll be driving a Subaru Crosstrek and will sometimes need to commute when the weather isn’t ideal because of her hospital schedule. I’d especially appreciate hearing from people who regularly drive this route in winter.

Follow up to my earlier post. I’m considering a job at NVRH but not very familiar with the overall area. Due to partner’s work location I need to be closer to Montpelier. Trying to determine if other people who work at the hospital make the same commute from that area, or is it just too far for someone to make that commute. I know everyone has a different commuting distance tolerance. But just trying to get a sense of “sure, plenty of people work at NVRH and live near Montpelier “ or is it “no way, that’s too far. People who work at NVRH would not live near Montpelier”. I posted earlier and got some good information. Thank you!
