Tumbled Botswana Agate

I love the shape, colors and banding of this Botswana Agate I recently tumbled. It’s wonderful how different every piece of this material looks, might be my favorite type of rock to tumble.

2026 Rock Tumbling Contest (Part 10): Pin Hole Problem Children (Bonus: Finished Botswana Agates)

The grind continues on the tumbling contest rocks. Officially starting to run out of patience with some of these. The pinholes in this material are driving me crazy.

I’ll never get over what’s hiding just below the surface of some of these rocks. This batch of Bubblegum Agates blew me away.

Rock Tumbling Contest Rocks (Part 9): An Old Friend Returns

Weekly update on the Dead Camel “Jasper” for this year’s tumbling contest. Decided to take the new Highland Park to my favorite rock from the batch, might have been a mistake, time will tell.

I’ve been enjoying following along with other folks’ progress this year. I’m probably still a couple weeks away from stage 2.

Botswana Agates after 3 and a half months

Finally took these Botswana Agates out of polish today. Some of them spent 15 weeks in stage 1, which is my longest first stage to date. The primary offender was that purple one in the 6th picture. It had a big crack all the way along the banding that was a real pain. You can see it in the “before” photo at the end of the gallery. Definitely worth the wait.

Tumbled Green Moss Agate (“before” pic at the end)

Some Green Moss Agate that I tumbled. I was amazed by the difference in the patterns and colors between the pieces, and the transformation from rough (last picture) to polished was wonderful.

This Mexican Moss agate didn’t look like much when I put it in the tumbler (pic at the end of the gallery) but did it ever transform! The depth and patterns in this stuff is amazing.

Easily one of my favorite materials to tumble. The before (at the end of the galley) comparison is wild. Amazing what’s hidden under that husk.

No full weekly update on the rocks for the rock tumbling contest because we were on vacation, but I decide to trim down this rock that I’ve been focused on for the last 2 months.

Loving this new Highland Park saw so far.
