Piece of media where the “potential man” gets a time to shine?
Kinnikumans relaunch is growing on me partially because it gives a spotlight to most of the characters in the og manga and gives them some amazing fights. Like bumbles said you get invested in characters like springman, kinnikuman big body, and sneagator. And since the main cast isnt doing most of the fights, you have no idea who is winning.
<loved design> Idw tmnts version of the punk frogs
Love how they live up to the punk name in this version. Of note a LOT of people were mutated due to a terrorist attack by old hob, this is not even including tokka and rahzar who in this version ARE babies
<loved design> The turtles wrestling gear from the archie comics
This was at around the time the comics deviated from the show. Also raphs outfit is a reference to black suit spiderman, he even wears it later on.
Semi out of topic but I find it funny how the archie turtles are basically the 80s but more expressive design wise
The character is so terrible they are allowed to essentially cheat for a fair fight.
In kinnikuman we have kinkotsuman. Dont let his look fool you, in a setting with power levels he has one of 200,000. Sounds strong but there are a lot more wrestlers with ones above and beyond and while he isnt the weakest person, kani base has a power level of 2, he isnt a juggernaut and is treated as a joke a la emperor pilaf. Dude sucks so much he is allowed to use a gun in one of the ps2 games against wrestlers.
In blood bowl you can field a whole team of snotlings. While other teams are treated horribly, hobgoblins, halflings and goblins being good examples, snotlings suck so much that they are allowed to have double the amount of players on pitch since a snotling is worth half a person being generous.
Anytime you see a species in universe and understand why action was taken against them?
For korra, the spirits. People like to say about how oh they are above good and evil, but no, koh exists, and letting creatures like that with no way to fight back is a terrible idea. Not to mention they can casually mahito people. Now im not an avatar expert but I find it really disturbing how the series washes it aside.
Xmen has any anti mutant legeslation. Magneto damaged a square block? Time to make some laws to prevent that from happening. Unlike the last example, this is where my praise ends because issues like this require tact which has not historically happened
One last example that is funny is blood bowl and the skaven, like warhammer fantasy they are always chaotic evil creatures and were initally banned from playing in the broader blood bowl field. Then accusations of rat based prejudice arose and they were allowed in. THEN accusations of cheating rose 400 percent.
<Loved design> idw tmnts version of mutagen man
Love how unlike other versions he is basically a pile of animal dna placed in mutagen instead of a human. All he knows is pain and it shows how damaging mutagen can be if its used willy nilly.
(Hated trope) character has a huge coming out/being gay only to be unceremoniously killed off
- Adam, voltron legendary defenders. Show hyped up how shiro has a boyfriend only for him to show up in two scenes and then die
- Kazu in gen lock, they have a huge arc about sexuality and then die, the fact this happens twice and in western mech shows hurts. Also this one angers me more because it was apparently intentional
Missed opportunity to not have jack do this and say “this is how mammoths hunted during the ancient times”
Favorite “only in it for the money” kind of villains?
Love how in marvel taskmaster uses his powers to not only work as a merc for hire, but to train others in villainy
