Started HVAC apprenticeship

I started an apprenticeship with a local company, they helped me get my epa 608 universal, nate certification and are currently in the process of helping with my osha 10

They recommend to skip trade school as they had put it, I had "common sense" and to apply for training programs in a nearby city, to learn specifically how to work on units, but I'm starting work with them part time on call, only had a few days working on the field with them, mostly shadowing, but the occasional electrical component replacement is what they mainly do to help and to practice with, aside from grabbing tools, checking breakers, testing wires from inside/outside the house, minor things so far but it's only been a few days, again

It's so far a pretty fun gig, I wish I got more hours but even as they said, I need more hands on experience

Are there any pointers I should take note of for future reference with my hopefully new career?

From central California here

I'm looking to start myself in a new career, I've had previous minor labor experience doing yard clean up, junk removal, helping with installs in different areas such as fences, roofing, sprinklers systems, house painting, naming specifics although handyman gigs, i like to work with my hands

I also have had customer service experiences both working my retail jobs and at local tint shops, making sales to help clear inventory at work whereever I went, trying to see what works best for people with whatever they're trying to look for

In July I'm starting at a local trade school where they can get me certified to work HVAC and I have an interview next week to apprentice at a local shop to practice fieldwork and learn the technicals for these systems

Right now I'm making most of my money at local tint shops in the area doing window tint, trying to keep up my finances of 1500 a month, this where most of my current money comes from and the minimum I need to make all my monthly payments, only having 1100 in my savings right now

Im hoping the company can take me in for an apprenticeship, so I can start working with them, that way I can supplement my learning at the trade school so I can earn my certification

I need a new career, I want to assist my $9,000 debt with a sustainable career I can work anywhere in the US

I live with my girlfriend, God how much I love her, who is struggling to find work right now, so I can build a comfortable life for both of us in the future

How do I get started on this, should I get started on this with my current (hopeful) plan

  1. Start apprenticeship

  2. Start schooling

  3. Complete certification

  4. Find work under company (preferably union)

  5. Ideally land myself In a spot with somewhat more stability

  6. (Optional) move out of state to find stability

How screwed am I, and I ridiculously optimistic, short thinking and stupid? is there some basis to what I am hoping to achieve? How viable is my plan?
