Indra Character Concept Art from Baahubali: The Eternal War

Alcyde recently shared these concept art images of Indra from Baahubali: The Eternal War on their social media.

We know Indra is the King of the Devas. From the teaser, he seems to be hunting Baahubali. Vishasur tries to fight him but is defeated quite easily by him.

But the main question is, why is Baahubali standing against the King of the Devas? Also why is Indra trying to kill Baahubali? What could he have done?

Baahubali: The Eternal War is an upcoming animated spin-off set in the world of the Baahubali films, one of India’s biggest box office phenomena, directed by S. S. Rajamouli (also known for RRR).

The film is reportedly being made on a ₹120 crore budget, making it one of the most ambitious animated projects in India to date. It features a distinctive 2D–3D painterly animation style.

The story pushes the Baahubali universe into a cosmic scale: after his death, Prince Baahubali enters an eternal war between Devas and Asuras, representing order and chaos, set across the 14 realms of Hindu cosmology.

It’s produced by Arka Media Works, the studio behind the original films, with an international pipeline that includes artists who have worked on Arcane, alongside studios in France, India, and the UK. The screenplay is written by Scott Mosier.

The release is announced to be in 2027, and they dropped this teaser in November 2025.

If they land what they are aiming for in terms of scale and visual style, this could be a huge step forward for Indian animation. What are your thoughts on this?
