🚨 Global Action against Kia ICCU Failures (EV3/E-GMP) – Joint Claim Template for Kia Ownership / Local Dealers

Hi everyone, As many of you know, the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) failure is not an isolated incident—it is a well-documented, global manufacturing defect affecting Kia's electric lineup (EV3, EV6, EV9). While the EV3 is an incredible car, Kia’s after-sales response when an ICCU fails remains inadequate: owners face weeks of vehicle immobilization without guaranteed loaner cars, and a lack of clear long-term warranty coverage for this component. I have created a formal claim template to hold Kia accountable. Although this template is originally tailored for Kia Spain (Kia Iberia), you can easily adapt it to submit to your country's national Kia division or official importer (e.g., Kia America, Kia UK, Kia Australia, etc.). If we act individually, we get generic automated responses. If we file formal claims en masse across different markets, we force corporate action

. 🎯 WHAT WE ARE DEMANDING FROM KIA:

- Guaranteed Courtesy/Rental Car: If a vehicle is grounded due to a factory ICCU defect, Kia must cover alternative mobility (via dealer or rental agency) for the ENTIRE duration of the repair.

-Extended ICCU Warranty: We demand that Kia officially extend the ICCU component warranty to 15 years / 300,000 km (or local equivalent) for the EV3 and all affected EVs, matching the measures already conceded in specific markets/models like the EV6.

- Official Warranty Extension Certificate: Automatic extension of the total vehicle warranty equivalent to the exact number of days the car spends grounded in the workshop.

📄 FORMAL CLAIM TEMPLATE (Copy & Paste) Subject: FORMAL CLAIM & PREVENTIVE WARRANTY EXTENSION REQUEST - ICCU MODULE (Vehicle Registration / VIN: [YOUR VIN])

To the Customer Care Department of Kia [YOUR COUNTRY / DELEGATION NAME] ([LOCAL KIA CUSTOMER CARE EMAIL]):

I am writing to you as the owner of a Kia EV3 with Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) [YOUR VIN] and License Plate [YOUR LICENSE PLATE]. In light of the recurring and globally documented manufacturing defect regarding the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) and its associated fuses within the brand's electric platform, I am expressing my formal concern regarding the after-sales management provided to affected customers. Considering that Kia has already acknowledged this technical defect by granting extended official warranties of up to 15 years / 300,000 km for the ICCU in models such as the Kia EV6 in various markets, it is unacceptable that Kia EV3 owners remain in a state of uncertainty subject to "case-by-case" evaluations for a known factory fault. Therefore, I

FORMALLY REQUEST THAT KIA: Guarantee Loaner/Rental Mobility Without Restrictions:

- That Kia Corporate guarantees full coverage for a courtesy car or rental vehicle for the entire duration of the repair whenever a vehicle is immobilized due to an ICCU failure. Standardize the Extended ICCU Warranty:

- That Kia officially and explicitly applies an extended ICCU warranty (15 years / 300,000 km or local equivalent) to the Kia EV3 lineup, replacing vague "case-by-case" policies for a structural manufacturing fault.

- Issue Official Certificates for Days Grounded: That in the event of vehicle immobilization, Kia automatically issues a certificate extending the vehicle's general warranty period by the exact number of days spent in the repair shop, in full compliance with applicable consumer protection laws. Please acknowledge receipt of this communication and log these formal requests within my customer profile file.

Sincerely, Full Name: [YOUR NAME]

Country: [YOUR COUNTRY]

Phone: [YOUR PHONE]

Email: [YOUR EMAIL]

Model: Kia EV3 VIN: [YOUR VIN]

The reality of Kia Iberia's after-sales service: A €40k+ car grounded by the ICCU failure and abandoned with no loaner vehicle

I'm starting this thread to share the nightmare I'm experiencing with Kia Iberia's after-sales service and the official dealership Grupo Marcos Motor (Kia Torrevieja), in case it serves as a warning before trusting the brand's famous "7-year warranty."

My car is stuck at the shop due to the well-known ICCU (Integrated Charging Control Unit) defect. For those who don't know, it's a recurring manufacturing flaw in their EV/electrified vehicle platform that causes sudden power losses.

The severe issue isn't just the failure itself, but the complete lack of coverage and the constant "blame-shifting" between the dealership and the brand:

  • No courtesy car: After the initial temporary mobility period expired, I've been left completely stranded. Kia Iberia washes its hands, stating that providing a loaner car is solely the dealership's responsibility. Meanwhile, Grupo Marcos Motor in Torrevieja tells me that Kia has only assigned them 3 loaner cars in total—all currently occupied—and they offer no solution whatsoever.
  • Excuses to buy time: The dealership justifies the delay by claiming that, since it is a warranty repair, "Kia demands a multitude of control tests that delay the process."
  • Car abandoned in the lot: Through Kia's own app (Kia Connect), I can monitor the vehicle in real time. It has been locked shut (hood and doors) for days/weeks, with zero recorded openings or workshop activity. They aren't working on it; it's simply sitting there gathering dust while the customer suffers the consequences.

It is completely unacceptable for a brand that boasts about its warranty and electrification to leave you stranded like this, passing the blame between head office and the local franchise. The "7-year warranty" is useless if after-sales service revokes your mobility and leaves your car abandoned indefinitely due to a globally recognized factory issue.

If you're thinking about buying a Kia or need to use an official service center in the Alicante region, be very careful.

Is anyone else in a similar situation with the ICCU or Kia Iberia's customer service? Have you had to escalate through formal legal notices (burofax) or legal action to get a response?

EV3 On-Board Charger / ICCU Failure after AC Charging

Hi everyone, Sharing an issue I just experienced with my Kia EV3 to add to the ongoing tracking of ICCU / On-Board Charger faults across E-GMP vehicles. Vehicle Details & Situation: Model: Kia EV3 Mileage: ~30,687 km Charging Type: AC Charging (Public Iberdrola Charging Point) Status: Vehicle remains at 76% SoC, but AC charging has failed completely. What Happened: While charging at a public AC station, the session failed, and the infotainment system threw the following error: "Vehicle Diagnostics: 1 item checked. Subsequent queries required: 1 - Charger (AC/DC)" "On-board charger error. Please contact an authorized service provider for inspection." The drive motor / propulsion warning light (red car icon with an exclamation point) is now illuminated on the driver's display. Current Steps: Since the ICCU handles both AC charging and charging the 12V auxiliary battery from the high-voltage pack, I'm avoiding driving it to prevent the 12V battery from dying in transit and leaving me stranded. I am contacting Kia Roadside Assistance to have the car towed directly to a local Kia Dealership so it enters official service via flatbed, which should also trigger the loaner/replacement vehicle protocol under warranty. Has anyone else with an EV3 experienced this recently? How long did the ICCU / OBC replacement or software fix take at your dealer?

Edit 1: The car has been at the dealership for 5 days now and it's still not fixed.

I'm very disappointed with Kia Roadside Assistance, as they only cover a rental car for up to 5 days.

The dealership has no loaners available, and Kia Iberia told me directly that they do not provide replacement vehicles.
