Welcome party look styling - help!

I bought this Kettel Attelier dress for my welcome party (I love it, please don’t convince me otherwise lol) and want to make sure it’s elevated enough. Would love any styling ideas for how to lean into cool-fashion-girly bride and not boho-sexy-grandma bride vibe.

I was thinking a fun colored block heel, diamond studs, and a more structured white/neutral mini purse? Like this one, no strap: Emm Kuo - Maiden Lane Clutch Bag https://www.modaoperandi.com/women/p/emm-kuo/maiden-lane/749494

Any ideas or recommendations?!

Wedding weekend is next month outside of Marrakech, on grass and our welcome party vibe is lush veggie market meets Moroccan tea lounge/bbq.

Best bra inserts for wedding dress??

Soooo my wedding is in like 6 weeks and I finally tried my wedding dress on today (I’m a little late, I know! But I’ve been on a weight loss journey and didn’t want to alter it too soon.) I still love the dress (phew) but now the chest part of the corset is so big on me that my boobs are just floating around under the boning and tuille and it’s making it look way too big.

The lady doing my alterations asked me to provide the cups I want sewn in for it (I live somewhere that these types of things aren’t readily available so I have to order everything). I’ve done a little online perusing but I’m a bit lost with all the options.

Does anybody have any recommendations for sew-in cups that gave a natural lift/filling? Or has anyone tried the Boomba options?

I feel like sewn in cups are the better options but idk - I also don’t superrrr trust my alterations woman 🫠 (and I don’t really have another option unless I fly to London and pay and extrordinate amount of money to do rush alterations with my dress designers people).

Welcome party dress HELP

Getting married in 2 months, still haven’t figured out my welcome party/RD look yet and officially starting to stress!! Please help me choose one of these options or open to suggestions that are RTW!

Background: Wedding is early October outside of Marrakech. My FH is half Moroccan so we’re leaning into that just a little bit (but he hates all the traditional stuff so it’s really a nod to his culture, not more). Welcome party attired is Morrocan-inspired cocktail: we want his family to be able to wear the traditional dress (jebbas, caftans) but we don’t want the non-moroccan majority feel like it’s a costume party or that they need to buy anything soecial. Decor is themed around a Marrakech produce market meets tea house - no flowers, but lots of sculpted veggies.

I originally bought the Cult Gaia Ashika gown as my RH dress, but this was before we figured out the ‘theme’. Now it feels really uninspired given the vibe!! I really want something flowy and stunning - also a curvier girl so I need something that goes gives me a waist and would love to keep the budget to $1.5k.

Photo 1: Alexis Lucente gown - gorgeous shape, love the blue nod to Marrakech’s marjorelle blue, hate that it’s mostly polyester. Also don’t know how I feel about not wearing white!

Photo 2: Francesca Miranda Akoniton gown - silk, gorgeous shape, that blue nod again, but feel like something is off with the top part of the dress?? Also pricier but I have a big Moda credit so offsets the cost.

Photo 3: Rachel Gilbert Isla - literally obsessed but hate that it’s almost $3k 🫠

Also open to other options!! Help meeeee 🙏🏽

Experiences & recs for giving cameras / video cams to guests

We want to hand out a handful of cameras and a couple video cameras to some select guests/friends to use during our destination wedding weekend. We have a professional photographer and videographer, but are opting to do this instead of a content creator because we think it will be more fun and intimate to see from our friends’ POV!

What we’re ruling out: bulk disposables scattered on tables. From what I’ve read the hit rate is low, and we don’t want to deal with film development or carrying undeveloped film home.

So we’re after digital, low-effort, but still with a nostalgic look.

Specific questions:

  1. Screen-free digital or othet instant cameras: we’re looking at the Camp Snap Pro or considering thr Instax print ones. Has anyone used any of these at an event? How did the flash hold up indoors and after dark? Any better alternatives?
  2. Logistics: how many cameras did you hand out, to how many people, and did you get them all back?
  3. Was the final result actually worth it, or was the output quality meh?

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who did this and loved what they got back! Or from photographers/guests who have seen this done well.

Jazz band cocktail + pianist for ceremony? Thoughts and cost?

My wedding is in a couple months and we’ve really struggled to find live musicians that we actually like where we’re getting married (less common destination spot, but think southern Europe pricing and vibes). I really wanted a harpist or string quartet for the ceremony but that’s just not available locally / we would have to fly people in from Europe and we are already so over budget, I just can’t justify it! All the other live music options my planner proposed were either cringey or not our style.

I finally found a great pianist (classically trained and jazz) who often plays with a jazz duo (him + double bass) or trio (him + double bass + drums). We really do love a jazz vibe so this seems a bit perfect for the cocktail hour but I’m still not sure if this works for the ceremony too?

Has anyone else had or planning to have just a pianist for their ceremony? Or piano + bass? Am I overthinking this?

And if you had / will have a jazz band in southern Europe or similar COL areas, what was the cost? Trying to benchmark their pricing proposal since it’s way more than my planners options but much better musically so probably well worth it.

Shopping in Rome - wedding weekend looks

Hello ladies! Any recommendations for where to shop for bridal looks in Rome? Not for wedding dresses specifically (I have mine already) but for welcome party / second looks (so could be bridal shops or vintage shops or just good shopping!!).

I live in country without great shopping options and heading to Rome soon so hoping to find the rest of my wedding weekend wardrobe while I’m there…

Understanding what’s “normal” with destination wedding planner design process & vendor sourcing

TLDR; Is it normal to never see a florist proposal or vendor quotes with a full service destination planner?

Maybe I'm overthinking this (!) but I need external advice. Destination wedding in a few months, full service luxury planner hired in March (after firing a flaky partial planner), design phase kicked off in April.

The design proposal was inspo photos + AI generated mockups with text explaining each event/space. Better than standard ChatGPT images, but not 3D event software and not our actual venue. We loved the direction, did some back and forth, and approved the overall concept and budget estimate in writing.

They said they'd go get quotes and come back with updated figures. Florals pricing came back confirmed, so I asked about next steps - do we see visuals or a florist proposal to approve? Answer: we already approved the design including florals and rentals, the real thing will match the mockups, and blooms get substituted as needed for the same vibe. No more design approvals from here.

The kicker: their contract requires all sub-vendors to go through them (I know, I KNOW! too late and we didn't have much choice). We pay lump sums, they pay vendors, we stay out of it (it's standard for luxury planners in this country - cash economy, unreliable vendors, they vouch for their trusted network, most vendors don't have real contracting etc). They say they take no commission and we'd have full transparency on pricing. But I've never seen a single vendor quote or contract, heck I don't know who the florist even IS, and we never discussed specific blooms (there are flowers I hate!).

To be fair: they're responsive, organized, and the design is genuinely beautiful. I don't think they're scamming us, but some costs I'm also not sure on. And ultimately, it just feels like a black box until wedding week.

Brides who did full service destination weddings where the planner contracts everything, ideally in countries like Mexico, Sicily, Spain, Turkey, LatAm/MENA:

  1. Did you ever see the florist's proposal, or a sample arrangement/mock table? Assuming you got a name?!
  2. Is "the AI mockup approval IS the floral approval" normal, or did you get a final design sign off?
  3. Paying lump sums through the planner - did you see underlying quotes, or just a line item budget?
  4. Red flags, or just how this model works and I need to trust the process now that I've committed to it (which I have).

Thank you 🙏😅

Destination wedding, 75 guests — budget breakdown & allocation gut check

I’ve seen quite a few people requesting or posting budget breakdowns lately, so I thought I’d share mine both to add another data point for anyone planning in Morocco and to get a sanity check on whether our allocations seem reasonable.

This is for a 3-day destination wedding outside Marrakech for ~75 guests this fall. This budget is pretty final, with maybe €6-8k that could be added if we decided to upgrade some things. Overall, I’ve found Marrakech pricing to be much more in line with (and in some cases even higher than) Southern Europe than people often expect.

A few notes for context:

* We have a full-service planner, although I hired her after booking our venue, which I honestly regret.

* There isn’t a separate venue rental fee. Instead, we’re subsidizing guest room costs to eliminate venue exclusivity charges being passed on to guests.

* We haven’t decided whether we’re hiring a videographer. Right now, the budget only includes a content creator, so photo/video may still increase.

I’d love feedback from anyone who’s planned a wedding at a similar price point as to whether the overall allocation between categories feels about right? Does anything seem surprisingly high or surprisingly low?

Hopefully this is also helpful for anyone trying to estimate what a higher-end destination wedding in Marrakech actually costs today :)

One looong table - Do’s and Don’ts

We’re having an 80-person outdoor destination wedding in a few months with the wedding dinner in an olive grove. I’m dead set on having one long table for dinner and seeking advice from other brides - or guests who have sat at one long table - about how to execute this best.

A couple Q’s from me:

- who did you seat immediately around you in the center of the table, family or friends? (We’re not having a bridal party so friends feels tricky but generally preferred lol)

- who did you seat at the ends of table? People who you were least close to or people you know could hold their own/have fun anywhere/wouldn’t care? Leaning towards the later especially since our wedding is so intimate, hard to pick who we’re least close with and we don’t want anyone to feel shafted.

- Seating chart vs escort cards?? I know this sub loves escort cards!

We’re doing a 3-course plated dinner (gambas & avocados with a gazpacho pour over + guest selected entrees + dessert) and will have a few speeches.

Note: I am NOT asking for feedback on long table vs rounds, and I know some people hate long 😅. Just looking for how to do long well 🙏🏽

Live music recommendations for Morocco

Having a 3-day wedding outside Marrakech this fall and feeling a bit desperate looking for live music. We’re looking for a strings duo or quartet, desert blues band and/or a more chill gnawan group, or just a good band that with more breadth (Latin, jazz, gnawan, etc). We found a dj but also not super excited about him.

Our planner sent us some recommendations for different musicians/bands but frankly we didn’t like any of them 🫠. The all seemed too kitchy and the music wasn’t great.

Would love any suggestions or recommendations from brides or guests who attended Moroccan weddings. Or else playlists it is :(

Ideas for a full moon wedding

Hi bbbs! Our wedding weekend is coming up in a few months and our wedding night falls on a full moon 🌕. We want to do something to celebrate/honor/acknowledge that it’s a full moon that evening, but we’re having creativity fatigue and are out of ideas.

Anyone had a fully moon wedding and did something fun/cool to celebrate it? Or anyone have any ideas for what we could do?? I am a big astrology person and my fiance is a good sport !

Open to all the ideas, big and small 🫶🏼

Help choosing a ceremony spot

Hi Bbbs,

Getting married in Morocco this fall and need to decided where at my venue we want the ceremony to be! Everyone who’s gotten married there before has done so in the olive groves (photos 2 & 3)- but my planner suggested switching it up and getting married in front of this greenhouse house structure (photos 1 & 4). Help me decide!

Option 1: In front of this greenhouse structure with some drapery, pillar flowers, and aisle florals. Photo 1 is AI-rendered and more chaotic/floral-basic than I would like (the drapery would be done much better!), and photo 4 is an actual photo of the space. One potential downside here is the space in front is a bit smaller (note it’s next to / in front of the olive grove).

Option 2: In the olive grove, with aisle florals and either a minimal floral/green arch or a drapery structure. Photo 2 is AI-rendered, photo 3 is the actual space. Gorgeous and classic, but not unique.

Guest count is ~ 70 people. What do you think?

MoB bought this dress to wear for the wedding - help!

For context, I am the bride and my mom sent me photos of her in this dress last week as an option for my wedding day. I told her directly it was more white than I would prefer… Apparently she still bought it and is planning on wearing it on my wedding day. It’s legit nude and white. And also pretty youthful??

And for context wedding dress code is funky formal with a request that everyone wear colors (not black… or white!!!!)

Usually I’m an expert communicator but I am just seeing RED rn so would appreciate any advice on how to handle this one!

Sipalitos, Neek or Vesica on a Sunday?

I will be in Tulum soon with a group of like 8 people. Deciding between these 3 options because we’ve been advised to avoid the beach clubs (?!).

What would you pick??

Welcome party dress help - Marrakech fall wedding!

Hi Bbbs!

Seeking some help with choosing a welcome party look for my wedding this September in Morocco!! I’ve been engaged too long and have seen too many options so I’m sort of losing my mind in analysis paralysis/wedding decision fatigue.

My requirements:

-long or midi length

-must give me a waist (I’m a curvier gal so anything too boxy or puffy just makes me look larger than I am)

-not a strapless dress - my wedding dress is strapless so really want a different silhouette

-ideally something flowy/with some movement, or with feathers/fringe - just something fun - nothing too stiff !! Trying to fit with my destination vibe

-open to color or white/ivory

-under $1.5k ideally (lil flexible there)

I’ve had my eye on the Cult Gaia Renata, and I also love the Vanina Colombe dress but just worried about ordering from a Lebanese designer and having to deal with import duties and potential return hassle.

Thanks for any suggestions!!

Best parties May 29-31?

I’ll be in Tulum with a group of 8 ladies end of this month and we are looking for some fun parties, good music, and to dance.

People have recommended Gitano for Friday and Ilios for Saturday but we’re really not the sparklers/spectacle types - and both seem like they are bottle service/sparklers/rich white kids on vacation with their parents crowd type places. We just want a good dj and good crowd ! Doesn’t need to be pretentious.

Any specific recommendations that weekend? We have Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (full moon) to go out and will probably end up doing 2/3 nights.

Has anyone successfully renegotiated planner contract terms for a destination wedding?

We’re hiring a new full-service planner for our smaller BBB ~$120K/60 person destination wedding after parting ways with our previous planner... We already booked the venue and several major vendors ourselves, so this planner is primarily handling design, logistics, sourcing, production, and coordination. Not the destination is somewhere that making payments ourselves could prove difficult

One important detail: the planner acts as the intermediary for most local vendors. We pay the planner directly, and they then source, contract with, and pay vendors on our behalf rather than us contracting directly with vendors ourselves.

We understand why this structure exists for destination weddings, but because significant funds and vendor relationships are centralized through the planner, we’re trying to negotiate a few contract points before signing:

• payment timing before final vendor selections/budget are locked

• transparency around how funds are allocated and what is actually non-refundable

• what happens to recoverable vendor credits/funds in a postponement scenario

• continuity/access to vendors if either side terminates mid-process

• a broad conduct clause allowing the planner to immediately cease services based on guest behavior

For those who’ve hired a full-service planner for a similar budget destination wedding:

• Were you able to negotiate planner contract terms?

• What was considered reasonable pushback?

• Did you have direct visibility into vendor contracts/payments?

Would especially love insight from anyone whose planner acted as the vendor/payment intermediary rather than a traditional coordinator.

Thank youuu!

Hi BBBs - we are 5 months out from our wedding and really struggling to find a tux or amazing suit for my FH, the groom, which is not super ‘boring’ (his words, not mine) and/or full wool. We are really looking for something either RTW or with easy customization - like SuitSupply but better/more original 🫠. Bespoke is no longer an option given timeline and MTM would only be possible virtually since we live in country without good tailors (tragically) and he won’t be able to travel before the wedding.

TLDR; where are grooms buying interesting suits or tuxedos online these days??

As background: Our wedding is end of September but in a pretty warm destination and the temps could be around 32c/90f during the day, cooler at night, and our ceremony is at 5 pm. Attire is funky formal, so theoretically he doesn’t need to wear a tuxedo, but we know some men will be wearing their tuxes and we want to make sure he’s not less formal than other guests!! He loves an untraditional tuxedo or nice suit that has a looser pant fit and wider shoulder, with that chic hanging off you perfectly look.

Any leads would be super appreciated !!

u/Moist_Chicken_7666 — 3 months ago

Looking to buy a tuxedo with relaxed trousers online - can be MTM or RTW - but I won’t be able to go in person/try on beforehand. I loathe a slim trousers and am looking for relaxed or wide leg look on the bottom. Something still classic color-wise, but can push fashion forward. Todd Snyder has good options for the relaxed pant style, but I’ve read mixed reviews about their suits on here. Again, must be able to buy this online without an in person consultation.

I checked Proper Cloth and Husbands already - Husbands had the pant style I’m looking for with the matching jacket but completely sold out. Any other leads?

Hi ladies (and gents if you’re out there!)

Very long story short - we had to fire our wedding planner and we’re 5 months out from our wedding date (fml). Our venue is a boutique hotel and they’re providing all food & bev, and they’ve told us (repeatedly!) that we don’t need a separate planner because they can “do everything for us custom”. We know they’re super strong on the F&B side, but most of the weddings and events they’ve done are a very specific style, that is not our vibe at all.

We’re considering hiring someone to just help us with the styling & design aspects, and wondering if anyone else has done this?!

If you have, what was your experience and did you find it was worth it? Would love to also get a sense as to what others have paid, as my only point of comparison is with full wedding planners. For context, our total wedding budget is around $100k for 70 guests and it’s a destination wedding in area with a saturated area that’s a sort of popular-Europe destination wedding location.

Tysm.
