Do the side characters overshadow Marinette and Adrien
I’ve been thinking about this lately: are Marinette or Adrien anyone’s favorite characters? Or do you feel like Miraculous has so many compelling characters that they kind of overshadow the main characters?
Usually, I feel like the main characters are supposed to be some of your favorite characters because they’re the ones we spend the most time with. But with Miraculous, I feel like there are so many other compelling characters that they can sometimes be more interesting than the actual protagonists.
For me personally, Marinette was NOT my favorite character in the earlier seasons. I honestly found a lot of the other characters more interesting than her. I mean, the only really defining character thing she had going on for a while was being a stalker toward Adrien, and I just didn’t find that particularly interesting or enjoyable.
I loved Kagami, and she was definitely my favorite character. She still is.
That being said, I do think Marinette has gotten MUCH better as a character. She’s way more interesting to me now than she was in the earlier seasons, and she has actually become one of my favorite characters.
I am personally nervous about what they’re going to do with her character in Season 7, though. I really hope they don’t ruin her character because I actually like where she is now. I know some people might argue that the writers have already ruined her character, but I think she has gotten a lot of good development.
And then there’s Chloe, who is probably one of the biggest examples of wasted character potential in the show. I really wish they had let her have an actual character arc instead of undoing her development. I still wish they hadn’t ruined her character the way they did.
Adrien is also an interesting case because I don’t really feel like he’s treated like a main character despite technically being one. He’s supposed to be half of the central duo, but sometimes he feels more like a supporting character than an actual protagonist.
So I’d love to hear what everyone else thinks!
