Another Agnico Eagle hunt.
I had originally commented this on the Pilot Butte post, but thought I should move it to it's own post so it is easier to find.
Having lived in Saskatoon for the last 45 years and previously researched SK mining history, I had already picked 4 probable locations. My #1 pick was clearly indicated in the video. (turns out A LOT of others thought so as well) We were on site within 2 hours of the release and saw only a Mom & her 7 year old son. Today, we spent about 6 hours searching, think a small park with mown grass 25 solitary trees and a bunch of gopher holes (3" round at best) and a 150 foot Caragana hedge on the south side. Really the only place to hide something is 1) MAYBE in a gopher hole if it's big enough until the gopher says "WTF is blocking my hole?" and digs around it or pushes it out. We searched the gopher holes, under the bridge, under the boardwalk, under heritage buildings, under garbage cans, leaves piled up along fences, we watched 1 lady search the BIG pile of grass clippings from last year. Or 2) under dead leaves. I spent +/- 5 hours shifting dead leaves in that Caragana hedge, quite a few spiders, many more scratches and one 3/4" long inch worm. So cool how they pull the back end up and shoot the front end forward.
So, That's my report. If you are considering travelling to S'toon to look at that park. That's up to you. I'm not going to be the knob that says "don't come". But I am done looking there. In my opinion it's either found or not there.
I am now looking at plans B, C, etc. But don't really know where that will lead as the indication for plan A was SO strong.
re above: Pilot Butte had a population of 2,638. The morse code in the video clue is "2638". Ok, but what mining history does Pilot Butte have? It's a pretty thin premise. There needs to be more supporting facts than just a population base that changes over time.
I thought it would be easy when things lined up, but now that they are not falling in place as they should, dammit! This could take a while!
Today:
I fully expected a bunch of negative comments that would confirm my decision to stop commenting on Reddit entirely. I was surprised to not receive a bunch of down votes (I know you're still there, down voting every upvote I get, but honestly, I really don't care. I'm already too old and too ugly to be concerned about winning a popularity or beauty contest at this point in my life. You know who you are).
I want to share my solve for the SK prize but my partner thinks I should not. Instead of giving away every connection that leads me to the conclusion that the prize is located at Boomtown Park at the Western Development Museum at 2610 Lorne Ave. in Saskatoon, I'll just say that the research I did months ago lead me to that location before the prize was announced.
I would encourage anyone considering spending time and $ on the trip to join the dots (solve for the location, it's not hard, follow the ring) to confirm if it is worth it to you. If time and $ are not a concern then by all means, do come. There are couple of good hotels within close walking distance with decent restaurants.
I have already expressed my my consternation re: the lack of hiding places. We did go again today for about 3 hours but ended up looking at the same places we already looked at 2-3 times before on Tuesday and Wednesday. If it is there, and has not been found, then the TNM or 3rd party staff that hid it deserve full points on their concealment skills. Top drawer work, really.
I sincerely hope that it is there and that someone with the "right set of eyes" does find it there, but I know it won't be me as I have run out of places to look and finally picked the infected slivers out of my hands. Don't forget your gloves! Not disappointed at all, had a great time looking with my partner.
Hidden signals. Study the terrain. Think like a prospector. Think laterally. If you think you're close, you probably are. And whatever else TNM says....
For those of you who have DM'd me but I have not responed to, I hope this answers your queries. Peace and Love to all.
