Hello, I just purchased an ice-cream banana tree. I live in zone 9A, which to my understanding is great for these types of trees. It will probably stay potted for a while, due to living circumstances I cannot currently plant it in the ground. However, it will be outside on the back patio where it will get plenty of sun.

The 2-3 ft plant will arrive by the end of the week, along with a 12 inch well draining pot, and fertilizer.

And tips for a new banana tree owner? For example, what type of soil do you recommend? I know it should be well draining, but in your experience, which would you say works well?
