Diagonal Ice Boat Road

What is the recommended width of a diagonal ice boat road, as to not bump into the edges? I am building one which is 5 diagonal ice blocks wide and practicing I am bumping much less into the walls than before, but I am not sure if it's possible to never bump the edges unfortunately, at least it's very hard. I think 7 would be much easier to prevent this problem, but would require a lot of changes to my nether highway.

Auto Supersmelter Fuel

I play on Java 26.2 want to connect a fully self sustainable 100% automated fuel system to my super smelter.

I guess self sustainable dried kelp block farm is the way to go? Does someone have good tutorial video or tips for that?

Item Water Pipe transportation Split

Is it possible only with water to make such a junction? I would like to do that as it matches very well aesthetically to what i want to build. But the items coming from way below all the way up the pipe just stay in the center opened trapdoor area, even tho it flows left and right. If i throw some in just at floor level, then they get split. Isn't this somehov solveable so I can keep the aesthetics like that?

EDIT:

Thanks guys for all the replies. Yes, I want it to flow into both directions, since the hallway you see behind the pipe, has stacked chest storage systems on each side, and I want to distribute it to both sides evenly. (Holes in the wall are not there yet since I am testing this part first.)

To do it for one side is actually really simple:

I have built pipes in the past like that and as far as my testing and long time usage is concerned, this seems to successfuly transport 100% of items through pipes.

So I thought maybe there is like a quick fix to make this work for water flowing into both directions instead of just one. But there actually does not seem to be one.

I will alter the appearance and connect the pipe with a minecart item splitter. Technically that is the more accurate splitter solution anyways.

Is a consistent high-speed blue-ice boat slime-block launcher possible in Java?

I started my 10yo forever world again as a server with my friends on Minecraft Java 26.2, but on a fresh location, starting over.

Now that we are kinda stacked again, I want to build a nether ice boat highway to connect the world center (old location at 0 / 0) with our new one.

To maximize speed from around -2500 / 2500 to 0 / 0, it will be the same diagonal road all the way.

I will not build it on the nether roof, but rather at y75 and y80 with glass floor/wall/ceiling, so while traveling we actually can see some stuff.

3 diagonal ice lanes is too narrow, since you bump into the edges of the wall, because it's a diagonal road. So I thought about making it 5 diagonal ice lanes, which should be comfy with a little bit of attention and skill after traveling a few times, since ther is probably still a little room for error when not careful. If someone has recommendations here to make it even wider, I am grateful for any advice to optimize this project.

I took a very old save from this world into singleplayer creative and scouted the way in the nether where I wnat to build the road.

Looking at the whole way, y80 is the best y where the boat will be. But looking at the first few hundred blocks of the road way, y75 would actually be better, because of a huge basalt delta. And especially for better view to see stuff lol.

So here comes the tricky question: Should I start at y75 and after the basalt delta increase the road y level to 80? We have to keep in mind that going from one world center to the other across that highway should go as fast as possible, but increasing that y level would allow me to implement something fun I'd really like to implement, even for a small time offset. An ice boat piston launcher (using sticky pistons and slime blocks). I read that it's been long documentet by Mojang, that launching boats with pistons + slime blocks has inconsistent behavior on Minecraft Java. I am curious if anyone was able to build something like that and is sure, that making a consistent design of such a machine is possible? I tested around a lot in a singleplayer creative world and I was able to build one with pressure plate detection before the pistons and somtimes it works multiple times successively, but then it fails multiple times successively. Of course I could just add some ladders or something for the case it fails, but it's kinda ffrustrating to have only a 50% success rate, not knowing if it could be optimized more, especially since speed on this road is a big priority. The problem I was able to find is, that if there is only a single zick-zack line of pressure plates, it does not always fire, probably because of the speed. If I doulbe or tripple the pressure plate, it always fires, but then the timis on the added pressure plates is off and it often does not launch the boat. And since ice boats have such high speed, it's probably too fast to configure the added pressure plates with 1 tick (1 tick is not precise enough), at least as far as I know. And then even if I only have that single zick-zack pressure plate lane and it fires, sometimes it still does not launch me, even though I optimized the time as good as I can with my limited redstone knowledge and capabilities (this is one of my first own redstone builds lol). Often times it does not launch me since the boat angle is a litte bit off I think. I think having the boat straight gives the best success chance. But even driving it straight is only about a 50% success chance sadly. I will also do some more testing with trip wire hooks. Curious to see what other timing problems that will bring, since the string needs to be in a straight line on my diagonal road lol.

I would be so glad to see someone having a consistent design for this, cause this would be fun as hell.

To spawnproof it (additionally to everything except the ice being glass), I will put button/pressure plate on top of every blue ice block. If anyone has information, that this slows down the ice boat road, and a potentially better solution, I am happy to hear. But as far as I know this should be fine. Will do some more testing there. Also there will be 2 airblocks between galss ceiling and blue ice floor, so endermen can not tp onto the highway.

Technical Specs:

Version: Minecraft Java 26.2

My singleplayer creative test:

Diagonal blue ice blocks till signal detection (pressure plates): 27-28 (Maybe ideally it should be more, because I think that is only almost max speed. But I figured this is fine to test at the already very high speed.)

Signal detection row:

Diagonal blocks from detection row to piston row: 7-8 (I used 2 piston rows but probably only the first one is really needed)

Video of my test design:

The failure quota her is actually one of the highest I was able to reproduce lol. Usually it throws me exactly into the glass tunnel onto the 5 block higher ice road, about 30% of the time.

Dead Silence

Currently I and my wife are on a daily horror movie watch. My strategy to find good horror movies is to go on YT to videos with good horror movie recommendations and reading the comments. Most of the times I find the best movies in the comment section. We also find ourselves enjoying newer movies (especially from 2020 onwards but also from the last 10 years) more than older ones. It just feels like things got spiced up more and they got better at making movies (for the good movies that is).

I just saw the trailer for "Dead Silence" (2007). The comment section hypes it up as very scary. We like all types of horror, but since we watch a broad spectum of types of horror, we sometimes also find ourselves a little bored by some horror which might feel a little generic and casual to us. To me in the trailer it looks kinda outdated. Am I wrong? Is it really that spicy, even nowadays? Or has it that generic kind of feel and where it might be more suitable to creep casuals out?

2 movies we just saw and really liked are "The Substance" and "Hereditary".

An example of a movie which I find generic and overhyped is "The Conjuring 4". The other Conjuring parts I don't even remember at all, just like insidious, which probably means they did not stimulate my brain a whole lot lol. Very unusual for me to not remember anything about a movie.

On the other side I sometimes find myself enjoying movies which other horror fans find generic or overused. We for sure like different stuff and can get to like almost anything if it does not feel too outdated.

Any other movie recommendations are highly appreciated.
