I have some really old clubs which are probably 40 years old and obviously are not fit for purpose anymore.

I know I need new clubs but I don’t want to break the bank, I also feel like I don’t need a full set of clubs either and was thinking about buying all the clubs individually? I’m not good enough yet to differentiate between a 5 iron and a 7 iron so is it just best to buy the following clubs?

A hybrid (or should I buy a driver?)
7 iron
9 iron
PW
56 degree
SW
Putter

Is that literally all I need for a beginner?

If so, what brands should I look into, I was thinking Ping mainly.
