Can multiple CII prescriptions be written on the same hardcopy? DEA doesn’t specifically mention anything about it - it only mentions that issuing multiple prescriptions for CIIs that “Each separate prescription must be issued for a legitimate medical purpose…”
Since it does not specifically mention issuing multiple controls on the same hardcopy, that means you could legally fill it, correct?
Hey yall! I came across a practice question and would love advice on which answer you think is correct since I didn’t get to see the correct answers (I only included the two possibly correct answers)
Q: Which would be allowed to be an estimated count during biennial controlled substance inventory?
Per the DEA Pharmacist’s Manual: “With respect to inventories of a schedule III, IV, or V controlled substance, the registrant may, with respect to an open bottle which contains no more than 1,000 tablets, make an estimated count or measure of the contents, unless the container holds more than 1,000 tablets or capsules in which case an exact count of the contents must be made. 21 CFR 1304.11(e)(6)(ii).”
I think #2 is the most correct answer but technically the DEA says “no more than 1,000 tablets” which would technically mean when an opened bottle contains 1,001 tablets is when you need to do an actual count so I don’t think #2 is incorrect either. What do y’all think??
