Guns, Threats, and the Clown King of Jewish Safety (Jesse Brown)

Really excellent piece from a doctor and member of the specific Jewish community connected to the synagogue that was attacked in Belleville on Yom Kippur. It talks to her experience in the aftermath, the intersection of those experiences and healthcare (given the shooter's extreme anti-vax views, and also specifically Jesse Brown's culpability in further endangering Canada's Jewish healthcare workers / community through his recent platforming is the 'Allison inquiry' and Dr Peter McCullough immediately following.

I highly recommend reaching the whole thing, it's really not that long, however for anyone who doesn't here are a few key quotes from the piece:

>When I cycle through all the feelings and land back at anger again, there are many targets. I’m angry at the apparent tolerance for public xenophobic and Islamophobic hate speech, especially given that the shooter also held these views. I’m angry at the COVID conspiracy mongers who not only endanger the public with anti-vax lies, they threaten the safety of health care workers. I’m angry at every COVID grifter who profited off bullshitting and gish galloping. But often (strangely, given his rapidly declining significance and self-trashed legacy) my anger seems to focus on one person: Jesse Brown.

>Why him? Because Jesse Brown, the guy who made the quest for Jewish safety his entire personality, promoted an American COVID grifter and legitimized the Allison inquiry immediately after the synagogue was attacked.

>Maybe Jesse’s not so concerned about the safety of Jews like me. Maybe I don’t have the right opinions on antisemitism or Israel for him to care. But all Jews in health care are less safe when Canadaland promotes COVID conspiracism.

>The shock and sadness linger, and our hearts remain heavy, but our solidarity is stronger than the flailing right-wing flirtations of a desperate “media critic” who lost the plot a long time ago.
