Iris (in a low excited voice): “Don’t let on that you this. She just ordered you a new dress girl! It’s the same colors as your ribbon, so you won’t have to change the hairstyle you just did!! It’s fabulous!!” 💙
Addy: “OMG! This landlord lady is awesome sauce!”

The girls: “Why did she take us off the shelf?”
Delilah: “Cause Addy’s coming tomorrow! She’s spending the night at the USPS Motel tonight.”
The girls: “Ohhhh, yeah, you know our landlord lady once played the old woman who lived in a shoe, in her first grade play.”
The girls: “She had so many children, she didn’t know what to do!”
Delilah: “Yep, that’s her!”

ETA: This is what I do late at night when most folks are sleeping. 😂 Moving the girls on the bottom row of the shelf around, so I can dust and rearrange to make room for Addy. For context, Delilah is TM115, named after the famous radio host; she likes to run her mouth! 🤣

You guessed it, I bought another doll. I’d like to thank AG for ensuring I’ll be broke for the immediate future. 🥴 But we’ll be happy in our brokeness!! Addy should be here sometime next week and she & Lila Clementine (ordered just the other day & given a new name), will be best buddies!!

I purchased her new in February of last year from AG online. My first and only historical. I always thought she was cute, after seeing those first catalogs back in 1986. After reading about her, I knew she was the one for me; she reminds me of my Mom. Molly was born 4/22/1934, my Mom 4/30/1937. Both wore their hair in braids, both had a plaid jumper. Molly and I share a great dislike for turnips. My grandparents owned a farm about 20 minutes from where I lived. Have you ever heard of Enterprise and Elba, Al? Since both of our parents worked, my brothers & I spent a great deal of time during the summer at their farm. At 11:00 every day, Nannie would have lunch ready for my grandfather. Their “story” As The World Turns, came on tv at that time. Sometimes, she’d cook turnips. To make matters worse, they’d eat them with cornbread dunked in buttermilk. Lord have mercy, how bad they did stink!! Not to mention how they looked like stewed grass.🤮 Of course my brothers & I always refused to even try a bite! Nannie would try to get us kids to eat them & would say, “If you get hungry enough, you’ll eat them.” I’d tell her, “No mam, I don’t think I will.” And I never did. Neither did my two younger brothers. I’ll have another birthday on Monday & can say that I’ve made it very well in my life without ever consuming a turnip!!

I’ve had this pic saved in my Pinterest for the longest time. With the release of AG’s Alice, I thought I’d share with y’all. Sadly the shop is no longer in business, but maybe this will give some of our sewists inspiration. While not the traditional Alice dress, I fell in love with this rendition! It’s modern yet classic and just the right amount of spunk.
