I got a sample pack of Hoshi Gato scents back in May! And I’ve really enjoyed them so wanted to share a review after having worn each scent quite a bit.

Suncatcher

Notes - Top: Sugared pineapple, Cranberry, Cherry; Middle: Mango, Strawberry, Rose; Base: Vanilla, Black tea

Impressions - Summer time sunshine, fruity and shiny! I’m a big time fruit lover so this was the scent I was most excited for and I absolutely adore it. I also love the dry down, the mix of vanilla, rose and black tea is super smooth and dreamy. 6/5! It’s on my wishlist to upsize ASAP!

Rainbow

Notes - Top: Ozone, Blooming grass, Water lily; Middle: Wild strawberry, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Misty air; Base: Vanilla, Floral musks

Impressions - a spring rain shower just ended and the sun is out! I am surrounded by flowers! This is such a gorgeous atmospheric floral! This was the favorite of my 2 sisters and nieces, and for me it’s my second favorite of the bunch! 5/5

Frooty

Notes - Top: Sugared lemon, Cherry; Middle: Classic fruity cereal; Base: Sandalwood, Soft florals, Almond milk

Impressions - it’s giving froot loops! If you want to smell like froot loops + milk - this is it baby! The fruit notes fall off after 4ish hrs for me and it ends very milky. I enjoy this but don’t personally want to smell like froot loops milk all day. 3/5

Creep

Notes - Top: Gravestones, Wet dirt, Moss; Middle: Crisp green apple. French lavender, Hyacinth; Base: Orris root, Patchouli, Benzoin, Oud, Oakmoss, Cetalox

Impressions - Damp and rainy earth, beautiful green apple, something a bit sneezy/itchy to my nose? Maybe the oakmoss? Much cleaner/crisp feeling than I was expecting with that dirt note. Lovely but not my personal favorite. 4/5

Meloncholy

Notes - Top: Green melon, forest greenery; Middle: Aquatic musk, tuberose absolute, French lavender; Base: Tobacco absolute, Incense, spiced woods, Veramoss

Impressions - I was surprised by how masc the vibes were on this one? In a good way though! I really enjoyed the melon mixing with aquatic and lavender. I always loved the cucumber melon scents from bath&body and this reminds me of a very elevated version of it! It’s super well blended and ends beautifully woodsy. A bit more masc than I wear everyday but def still my vibe! 4/5

Strawberry Milk Cake

Notes - Top: Fresh strawberry, caramelized butter; Middle: Evaporated milk, Chantilly cream; Base: Amber glitter, skin musk, vanilla pound cake

Impressions - artificial strawberry and buttercream cake, very much milky buttery sweetness! A bit too sweet and milky for me but I think really true to the notes and the name. 3/5

Overall, I really enjoyed my Hoshi Gato samples & experience! I would totally recommend giving them a try! I’m really happy that I liked all of the scents and even found one I really really love! That is not always the case when I try a sample pack from a new to me brand so it’s very exciting. I also appreciate the perfumer’s attention to accessibility and listing of allergens/ingredients.

The branding/packaging is super cute. I also found shipping was pretty dang quick for me, my package was shipped the next day after I ordered and I received it about 6 days after that.
