Am I overreacting for finally setting boundaries with my sister in my own apartment?

I (29F) recently moved back near my hometown after living out of state for a few years. I finally have my own apartment again and I’ve been trying to keep my life calm and low-stress.

My younger sister (24F) has always been close to me, but she’s used to just showing up and treating my place like a second home.

At first I didn’t mind. She would come over uninvited, stay for long periods, and sometimes crash without really asking properly. Over time, it became a pattern I just allowed.

Later on, she started bringing friends over without checking with me, leaving messes, and even once took my laptop without asking.

Last weekend, I told her in advance that I needed a quiet weekend and didn’t want anyone over.

Saturday night, I walked out of my room and found three people in my living room with music playing and food everywhere. She had invited them over without asking.

When I confronted her, she said she thought it was fine because I was just resting.

I told everyone to leave and said she needs to ask before bringing people into my apartment, especially after I already said I needed space.

Now she’s upset and says I’m being too strict and acting like a landlord instead of a sister. My mom also told me I’m making it a bigger deal than it needs to be.
