This is my fifth time trying to grow an avocado plant from a pit. I can’t seem to get them to thrive. Every plant follows the same trajectory: the tips of the leaves start to dry out / become brown and eventually all leaves fall off. Sometimes this starts when the pit is still in the water, before I was able to transplant it.
The current plant is near a south facing window in indirect sunlight and I water it every 1-2 weeks depending on how dry the soil is.
I’ve already tried using multiple soil mixes, changing the lighting conditions, watering more/less, leaving the pit in the water for a longer period of time but nothing seems to help. My tap water is free of chlorine and fluoride but is on the harder side.
I’d appreciate any advice on how I can prevent my avocado plants from dying.
