I finally sold my condo, but for $80k less than what I bought it for.

Hey guys, like many of you I've been experiencing the trials and tribulations of the DC housing market. I bought my condo about 5 years ago when the housing market was going crazy. I bought a condo with some good square-footage, good lighting, and great amenities. Life took its course, and I outgrew the condo and needed more space. The condo went on the market roughly a year and a half ago. It sat for ages. The DOGE cuts didn't make anything better.

Eventually a seller stepped in with an all-cash offer. The offer was about $80k less than what I bought it for, but at this point I was willing to cut my losses and move on with my life lol.

Anyway, for anyone buying or selling right now, good luck. Times are weird, the market is weird, but hopefully everything goes back to normal.... Eventually.

Why do restaurants have to blast loud music?

One of my biggest pet peeves these days are restaurants that play loud af music while I'm trying to eat with my friends. We selected a restaurants specifically for the purpose of chatting over a meal, but now I have to yell across the table because the restaurant thought it'd be a good idea to bring in a DJ at 6 PM.

I have never heard someone say "I loved the generic generic house/club music they played". I don't know why restaurants cant play music at a respectable enough volume so that we can actually talk to each other. It's turning into an epidemic. There's even a coffee shop nearby that brings in a DJ on Sunday mornings. jfc man

Interior windows don't have trim or crown molding, is it worth adding?

One thing I recently noticed about my house is that my windows don't have any trim or crown molding. I'm thinking about adding some but has anyone else had trimless windows? Did you keep it or add some sort of trim?

Despite all the doom about the DOGE cuts, DC real estate is still expensive af

I thought east of Georgia Avenue was the last bastion of affordability; for example Manor Park and Fort Totten. I'm seeing homes in these areas come on the market for $700k+. West of Georgia Avenue is even more expensive.

And I'm talking about row homes, not necessarily condos

Do I need a permit to have roommates?

I own a DC rowhome and I'm interested in renting to long term tenants. 2 spare bedrooms while I still live in the home. Standard stuff. From what I understand, you need a permit for this.

I was told I need a Basic Business License, but before I can get the Basic Business License I need a Certificate of Home Occupation. Ok fine, but I can't get one because more than 25% of the home will be used for business or something like that. I tried to get a Certificate of Occupancy (the alternative) and it got denied because I need a building permit first. For the Building Permit, the application is for making modifications to the home, which I'm not trying to do, so I can't answer any of the questions.

I'm not doing construction, I'm not trying to make money on AirBNB, I'm not making the home into a dorm while I move across the country. I'm literally just trying to rent out the spare rooms in my house. That's it. I call the DOB and they don't even pick up the phone.

Nuts to buts on scooters

What is it with these dudes in ski masks and all-black fits riding nuts to buts on scooters? At this point we need some sort of two-seater scooters. I was walking with my girl yesterday and two guys zoomed by hugging up on each other, so I yelled "NUTS TO BUTS NUTS TO BUTS", which prompted one of them to turn around and yell "f*ck you"

but seriously though why nuts to buts
