Moody Encounter #2

Here's the story as to how I got this autograph...

As previously stated, I promised to tell of my follow up story of my encounter with John Lodge.

It happened July of 2022 in Ocean City. NJ. I heard there was a "meet and greet" so I took advantage. About 20 of us were standing in line waiting to get in when John's daughter Emily came by to say hello. She showed us her engagement ring and told us the wedding date. I teasingly asked her if we were invited, and she laughed. She's really very nice, just like her father. Anyway, after chatting with us another minute or two, she went inside the building.

After a bit more of waiting, we were ushered inside. I stood in line for about ten more minutes, and I finally got to stand next to John. I said hello, he said hello, and then Emily graciously took a photo of us with my camera phone. Once that happened, I went to my seat and pulled out a copy of the CD 10,000 Light Years Ago, and go back on line. When I got up to him I asked him, "Where is the one place you've always wanted to explore, but never got a chance to do so?" He smiled, and responded quickly, "The Egyptian Pyramids." He then signs my CD, I thank him, and went back to my seat.

And there you have it.

Has anyone had an encounter with any band members?

Did anyone ever meet any members of the Moodies? If so, what's your story?

I have 2 of them, well, 3 if you count my 10 second encounter with Justin and John (I did get to meet John about 25 years later at a more lengthy amount of time.).

Here's the first story (The second will be told in a week or so.)...

It was October of 1986 or 7, and it was the 2nd week of October. WNEW-FM every year would broadcast live at the Hard Rock Café and would have various artists Scott Muni would interview. On this particular day, I went there in the hopes of meeting my (I admit) favorite Moody, drummer Graeme Edge. I go inside the HRC, get a drink, and around 2:30 Graeme and Patrick Moraz walk in, go upstairs to where the interview was gonna take place. Once they settled in the interview occurs, and us nice people below could not only hear them, but see them. They do the interview, Patrick leaves since he had a plane to catch, but Graeme stays a bit, but is outside. When the crowd thinned out a bit, I walk up to him, thrust at him my TOSOL tour book, and asked him to sign it. He asked me my name, and at the time my nickname was Moonshine (That's another story for a different time.). He smiles, says that he once got in trouble for drinking it in Atlanta, Georgia once (I never did hear that story!). Since he once revealed that he couldn't spell, I mentioned that fact to him, and told him that a dictionary was useless to him. I had said something like, "Dictionaries are useless. How can you look up the spelling of a word when..." and he chimed in, "...you don't know how to spell it?" Both of us laughed at that. Anyway, I told him that I'd make a deal with him: I would teach him to spell, and he could teach mathematically-challenged me math. He laughed and agreed it was a deal.

The coup de grace was bold, brazen me told him that I wanted to give him something. He asked what and I went and gave him a quick kiss on the lips. He smiled, thanked me, then the limo showed up.

Next: My story of meeting John Lodge.
