A Salute to Our Traveling Fire Fans!

I want to thank the Fire Heads who were able to make the journey north for the July 4th game. Watching from home, it was clear how much it meant to our players to have some friendly, supportive faces/voices in the crowd... thanks for putting in the miles!

About this Fire vs. Storm Rivalry...

A friend of mine suggested the next time the Fire play the Storm, they definitely need to play Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain."

I realize this is a bit of a mixed metaphor, as the Reign is Seattle's NWSL team, but rain is still an intrinsic part of a Storm (and heck, we can burn them both with one song).

Anyway, she thought it would have a nice bite, and I agree.

And while we're on the subject of music, I'm still hopeful that in honor of Old Fart's Day they'll play Kenny Loggins' "Keep the Fire" as the post-game song.

ESPN's WNBA Standings

After today's games, ESPN has the Fire at #10... but our W-L record is as good as the bottom two "playoff teams" (Wings at #7, Sky at #8).

In any case, the Fire continues to do a horrible job of tanking for JuJu!

Tonight's Game (5/14 vs. Liberty) ONLY Available on Prime

I hate Prime. If you don't have it, there's no way to watch. They blackout local broadcasters, and really delay when it's available on League Pass (i.e., until tomorrow morning!).

They're bums, BUMS I tell you!

ESPN Rankings After Fire's First Win

ESPN, who does their rankings purely on W-L record with PPG used as tie-breaker, has the Portland Fire ranked #5 in the League, and #2 in the Western Conference!
