Use of Overtime Increased as Staff Decreased at IRS, Says IG
The IRS cut about 25% of its workforce, which naturally reduced the total hours worked. But the employees who stayed started working significantly more overtime so much so that it nearly canceled out the hours lost from all those departures. So they'd rather pay time a half, so efficient.
