Wizard Trees - Voodoo

coa: https://app.1a4.com/landingpage/1a41203000054c6000000137/336

Picked up from dankley for $62+tax (They had buy 3 get 1 free on flower so overall price was better). Have not tried and Wizard Trees since the initial NY drop but figured I would get it again as a treat. It is always hard to stomach any weed at this price point, and without that deal I would never try this, but Wizard Trees has always had really solid weed and I wanted to see how this drop stacked up to the first one. Another thing that caught my eye was over 4% terps on the labs, which I know I am always skeptical of labs but a number that high should hopefully mean this is gonna be a fire smoke.

Bag Appeal 8/10: A few decent sized buds in the jar. No massive big nug but nothing too tiny. These buds had pretty good trim and were fresh and pretty frosty. I like the novelty of these jars and they definitely keep the flower fresh, but I hate thinking that I am paying extra for the packaging when they could jar these in normal jars and bring the incredibly steep price down. I know other states have Wizard Trees mylar bags and I lowkey wish they came here if they would cause them to drop the price significantly. That aside, these buds were solid but eye test didn’t blow me away to earn higher for the price.

Smell 9/10: The smell is that classic wizard tress candy note with a touch of gas. This one is really sweet and pleasant to smell and pretty loud as well. If you smoked any solid Wizard Trees candy strains before you probably can tell what this smells like by guessing. They always have done really well with these type of profiles.

Flavor 10/10: The flavor on this is unlike anything else I have tried so far. This is one of the tastiest candy gas combos I have ever tried. This is one of those times I believe the 4%+ terpene evaluations. It is so flavorful and smooth through the entire joint. You get some really nice berry notes along with some candy and diesel. Burns white ash and dense oil ring as well. This is what I expect when I am buying $60/eighth weed.

Effects 8.5/10: This one is pretty relaxing high overall with no couch lock but it is a more of a creeper high. Does not blast you right away but slowly fades into a hybrid mind and body high. At this price I expected it to hit a little harder to earn a 9, but the high I do get and the effects overall are still really nice and I can't complain. I tend to be a lot stricter with ratings of anything above $60 and had this been 50-55 pretax it would earn at least a 9/10.

Overall 8.875/10: While Wizard Trees is certainly not flower I would/could buy all the time, usually enjoy it when I do. I did enjoy this experience and I always love the unique genetics that Wizard Trees offers. I think it is always fun to buy this as a treat once in a while but generally I would rather buy other top shelf that is $10-15 cheaper pretax when I need to stock up in bulk. Definitely still worth trying these Wizard Trees jars if you have not already and I could see myself getting this a lot more if they drop the price or if they ever offer more bulk options at a decent price.

Preferred - Blue Glacier

coa: https://app.1a4.com/landingpage/1a41203000003f7000000766/374

Picked up from Dankley for $50+tax at full price. full disclosure, I am not someone who usually smokes vapes at all, maybe 3-4 times a year when im away, but a worker from Dankley I had spoken too had really vouched for these since he knows what I usually smoke and dab. I was definitely skeptical at first, but I had also not tried cured resin before. A user from this sub and I had been talking and he had been teaching me a bit about different types of oils in vapes and why he loves cured resin specifically. The combo of recommendations from people whose opinions I generally trust lead me to trying this out because I had to know if this could go toe to toe with my beloved dabs in my puffco.

Bag Appeal 9/10: Now I am not familiar with a ton of vape hardware but this hardware reminds me of when I used to have a real box mod vape back in highschool for blowing fat clouds, definitely took me back but I knew I wasn't smoking this for fat clouds, I wanna get high. The vape itself is pretty solid with cover in the mouthhole, usb c charger port, and great hand feel while holding. I REALLY love the different voltage settings to control the hit since I prefer lower temp dabs generally. The packaging itself is so sealed I had trouble opening it which I guess is both a positive and negative. It comes like a hot wheels car with the paper and plastic seal combo and I had to get a scissor to cut through the packaging. My one criticism is the base is thinner than the body and makes it pretty easy to know the vape over, but that is a very minor nitpicking criticism.

Smell N/A: I never have reviewed a vape and curious how one reviews smell before combustion since this category is for me to smell the flower before I smoke it.

Flavor 8/10: The flavor on this was very nice and definitely a bit different than other vapes I have had. You get a nice warm gassy and sweet profile with the cross of strains. The sweetness is more warmer than most citrus candy profiles you normally see, but the gas note is the star of the show. Very nice profile but I did expect it to be a bit more pronounced at over 7% terps. I am not sure if that is because it is cured resin vs live resin or rosin, but as I said I am new with vapes so I may just be talking out of my ass. Overall very pleasant and smooth smoke for a vape.

Effects 10/10: This category is where I was totally blown away. I never expected a vape to hit as strong and as hard as my dabs, but here we are. After 1-2 small rips I instantly felt the effects. Very strong cerebral relaxation that flows into a nice body high. No crazy couch lock for this either, which I really loved the most. Whenever I can feel this relaxed and not instantly feel like it’s bed time, that is my favorite types of high. This cured resin vapes hits as good as even some dabs off my puffco.

Overall 9/10: Very glad I took the recommendations I had gotten from the dude over at Dankley. This vape blows away pretty much any other vape I tried. $50/g in good hardware is also a price point that I can not feel too bad about, and since they offer buy 3 get 1 free, I would consider stocking up a few of these if I ever planned on vaping regularly. So far Dankley have been spot on with their recommendations to me and are some of the more knowledgeable people selling weed on this market. Definitely would recommend checking this one out and I would buy it again.

Side note: Although I review a lot, I am not a regular cart smoker, so feel free to take my review with a grain of salt. To put it in perspective, I have maybe vaped 5-6 carts/aio in the past year as I mainly smoke flower and dabs. The other carts I am basing my comparison off are mfny, olio, and high peaks since that is all I have had on legal market.

1Slice - Pineapple Cream

coa: https://app.1a4.com/landingpage/1a41203000016b1000000186/410

Picked up from Dankley for $50+tax (They run buy 3 get 1 free flower so overall price ends up a little better). I was VERY intrigued to see this recent drop of 1slice tested far higher in thc than their last ones. Maybe they found a new lab but either way, I know never to judge a bag based off its thc. That being said, they went from an 18-21% thc last drop to this bag boasting a whopping 38%thc and 2.8% terps. Now I cannot vouch on how accurate the labs are to be so drastically different from their last grows, but I can 100% vouch that I have loved all of the flower I have tried from 1slice so far, and I expect this bag to be no different. I am not always the biggest skunk fan because effects tend to be very heavy and sedating, but this cross overall peaked my interest, and more importantly, it was something I wanted to dad to try for his back pain since he smokes medically. For reference, he smokes a lot of the same quality stuff I do and he tends to lean towards a lot of the heavier strains that I usually avoid (skunks, glues, lcg), which makes him the perfect person to smoke this with.

Bag Appeal 9.5/10: Literally same opinions as my other 1 slice reviews, the flower is fantastic and the packaging with the plastic tray is great but can’t score a 10/10 not being in a jar as is consistent across my reviews. You get a beautiful large bud in this one with amazing structure and trim. It is covered in trichomes and at this point, this is what I have come to expect from 1slice. They really do a fantastic job with their grow and I love that they show videos of it on their socials.

Smell 7.5/10: Nose was a but muted but def nothing bad or offensive on the smell. Expected this to be loud as hell with 2.8% terps and skunk cross. You do get some nice notes of the cookie and cream with a touch of the gas from skunk but no pineapple. Definitely not blown away but at end of the day, weed is for smoking not smelling, and if nothing offensive jumps out to me I am gonna smoke it.

Flavor 9.5/10: Wow! Never judge a book by its cover (or smell) because the flavor on the smoke comes through so much more than on the nose. Very gassy and the skunk gas and funk is the most dominant flavor on inhale and exhale with the cream note stepping aside for it. Incredibly smooth smoke with white ash and an oil ring even with a tiny j. Very glad this ended up smoking how I hoped it would.

Effects 9.5/10: Reading 38%thc on the bag had me skeptical, and obviously you should always be skeptical about a number that high on regular bud, but this one definitely hits like its above 30%. Very heavy hitting right away with cerebral and full body high. This one hits like an older skunk despite not being a 100% skunk profile. I smoked a joint with my father who smokes medically for his back, and even he said halfway through that he was feeling way better. This is definitely a strain that works better for him than it does for me needing to stay productive, but I can always appreciate a really good skunk cross when I smoke one.

Overall 9/10: So far I have never been dissatisfied buying 1slice. They do a fantastic job with their grows and I enjoy their strain varieties a lot. They do a lot of really cool crosses that I do not see a ton in NY. I know I said I was not gonna review them again so quickly, but I also said if there was a new drop that I would check it out. 1slice is such a consistently good brand and I 100% would buy again.

Leadfarmer - Galactic Warheads (28g)

coa: https://app.1a4.com/landingpage/1a412030000120f000000082/82

Picked up from Happy Days on sale or $270+tax (they raised the base price from $300 to $332 but honored the original price for me since I brought it up). FINALLY we have top shelf ounces on the market! I have been excitedly waiting for this to drop for weeks and stoked that it is finally here! Y'all already know the deal that i am a huge fan of Leadfarmer, especially if you saw my previous review of the Pink Zugar. When I tell you this Galactic Warheads is just as good, if not better than that, I am not kidding.

Bag Appeal 9.75/10: The entire ounce is perfectly trimed, very beautiful fresh and frosty buds. It doesn't get much better than this tbh. I bumped it up 0.25 from the Pink Zugar because I think these buds all being this perfect in this quantity is much more admirable. Same as all my reviews, cannot give a perfect 10 since it is in a bag, but these ounce bags are a bit sturdier than the smaller sizes and creates less chances for any smushed buds. Check out some of these close up and look at the trichomes, and those pics are just from my phone. If you see this in person the flower will speak for itself, you do not need me to chirp about it.

Smell 10/10: If I could give this an 11/10 and not be a clown I totally would. Straight up loudest bag of weed I have ever opened. The smell and flavor on this is truly out of this world (bad strain pun intended). Very sweet funky candy terps on this but a very deep flavor as opposed to the usual light and sweet. It smells like you have a nug shoved up your nose even before you take one of the bag I swear this is so far the peak on smell NY has to offer.

Flavor 10/10: The flavor from the nose comes through exactly how you expect and want it to on the taste. As always, incredibly smooth and clean smoking flower from Leadfarmer. This burned with a very dense oil ring and nice white ash as well. It burned slower than other stuff as well because of how fresh it is. Zero complaints on flavor at all.

Effects 10/10: This high smacks you very hard right away with instant full body relaxation. This and the Pink Zugar are like yin and yang being dropped together like this because one is the perfect of creative productive high, and this is the perfect end of day relaxing high. To score 2 perfect scores in this category for me is incredibly tough but once again, I am blown away with this batch. Not even half the joint had me so immensely high that i had to save the rest for later, I can only imagine how hard it gonna hit when I roll a nice fat blunt of it.

Overall 9.9375/10: This flower is literally as close to being the first perfect score I give anything coming out of New York, only being held back by my consistency with the bag rule. Huge shoutout to Leadfarmer for scoring number 1 and number 2 out of all my reviews on this drop. They are really putting out the best flower NY has to offer and I am 100% gonna buy this ounce again if it does not sell out before then. They offer this batch in smaller quantities as well if you don't wanna splurge on a whole ounce but if you smoke like I do, you are gonna wish that you did.

A side note about the price discrepancy, as stated in my previous review, I was told by Happy Days that they increased it because of "higher thc," which is not even relevant to this product because its not even above 30%. You can read my full rant on the previous review but wanna reiterate that this is in no way Leadfarmer's fault. The dispensaries are the ones who price/markup the products after buying it all wholesale. Happy Days did do right and honor the price and have always made things rights if I had any issues so not sending any hate their way either.

Leadfarmer - Pink Zugar

coa: https://app.1a4.com/landingpage/1a412030000120f000000091/581

Picked up from Happy Days on sale for $45+tax (they raised the base price from $50-54 overnight but honored the original price for me since I brought it up). I have been waiting for this Leadfarmer drop since it includes the first real top shelf oz (will review that after this) but also heard amazing things about this Pink Zugar and scooped it as well. If you have seen my reviews and comments, you already know I am a huge fan of Leadfarmer and their team, so you should have known I was gonna review these as soon as it became available by me.

Bag Appeal 9.5/10: These buds are good size and perfect trim! No straggler leaves and very nice color and covered in trichomes as well. As consistent across my reviews, I don't give 10/10 to anything in a bag as opposed to a jar, but this stuff is very fresh and gets as close to perfect score as I can give it here.

Smell 10/10: At least for my smell metrics there is no measure that caps the score below perfect because WOW this one was really loud upon cracking the bag. You are blasted with sweet candy and and some sour citrus grapefruit on the profile. This bag was significantly more pungent than almost any other NY legal bag or jar I cracked open, and to achieve that with such a tasty profile deserves the perfect score in my book.

Flavor 10/10: The smoke follows through on the smell 100%. Same exact flavor profile from nose and just as pronounced. One of the cleanest and smoothest smokes on the NY legal market, even compared to all the other leadfarmer batches I have had. White ash and dense oil ring as well and definitely achieves a perfect score for me.

Effects 10/10: I am honestly blown away by this batch. This gives me the type of high I always strive for. Very relaxed while being able to be creative and productive. Very good body feel from this as well once its sets in. I have zero negative about the high im feeling from this and it also gets the perfect score here.

Overall 9.875/10: This is the highest scoring flower I have reviewed so far. This batch is as close to the perfect flower IMO (NY prices aside). I do not give out 10/10s in any category lightly, I am much more willing to give a 9-9.5, but 10s are very strict for me. The fact is if I wasn't so set on consistency on my reviews with my rules, this would have scored the perfect 10/10. That being said the, the bags have been very good at storing this compared or other mylar bags from my experience so definitely do not pass this one up. I cannot wait to try the Galactic Warheads ounce I got after seeing how amazing this batch was. After talking to them as well, the Leadfarmer team are good people who truly care about this plant and the community it fosters. They are legit a small team of about 6 people and have been on the front lines pushing the micro/craft movement in our state into something better from day 1. I will 100% continue to vouch for Leadfarmer and definitely recommend trying them out if you have not already.

A side note about the price discrepancy: I was told by Happy Days that they increased it because of "higher thc," which is not even relevant to this product because its not even above 30%. By that logic, every vape would be $500 and rythm oz testing 38% would be $800, which is clearly not the case. They have never done that for any other products before in my few years of shopping there. While I am happy that they honored the price for me, it did feel a bit like price gouging to raise it like that in the first place, and you can see the screenshots of the price change in replies. I have consistently felt Happy Days is the best of the 3 Long Island dispensaries around here, and I still feel that way. They have always made it a point to make things right anytime I ever had an issue in the past. I do not want to bring them any hate but feel I need to be transparent when my price is different than what is listed on their website. Also, this is in no way Leadfarmer's fault as the dispensaries are the ones who price/markup the products after buying it wholesale.

disclaimer all my reviews are 100% my own. I purchase all of my products unless otherwise stated before the review. I am not paid by and do not work for any dispensaries or brands.

Alchemy Pure - Bolinas Live Rosin (1g)

coa: https://app.1a4.com/landingpage/1a4120300000222000001520/383

Picked up from Dankley for $65+tax after hearing some really good things about Alchemy Pure's rosin. I wanted another citrus strain and Bolinas looked like it would be orange heavy which I have not had yet in NY legal market. I have not heard or know anything else about this brand but when people with good weed takes tell me something is good I tend to buy it and try it so here we are.

Bag Appeal 9.5/10: The packaging, jar, and rosin itself are all solid. The rosin it a very nice color and oozing with terps. I know the nose it the next section but when something truly hits you just from opening it before you even bring it to your nose, it is worth mentioning within this category as well. I took off a half point because the outer box is a pain to open. You gotta peel the sticker around it otherwise its super stuck shut but the jar inside is one of the really good non-popvac jar options.

Smell 10/10: This jar's smell blew me away. This smells extremely loud like an orange creamsicle float it is unreal. Super clean and no complaints at all, not much else to say here.

Flavor 9.5/10: The smell comes through exactly how you would expect on the smoke. You are hit with that orange front and center and a touch of cream and fizzy notes on taste it is perfect. It burned more on the light side when looking in the chamber for light vs dark pools or rosin but i have seen lighter cleaner burns as well. Nothing to scoff at this is still an amazing smoke but barely not at that perfect score here.

Effects 8.5/10: This one is very light and whimsy type of high. Definitely sativa heavy and gives me a bit of a spark but relaxing at the same time. I think it could hit a bit harder and still give you that fun high but definitely one I will go to when I am in a good mood.

Overall 9.375/10: To the homie who recommended me this brands rosin you nailed it! This is a winner for me and something I would 100% buy again. Love the orange terp profile a lot and Alchemy Pure did a great job with it. I definitely recommend yall try this if you see it and I hope I can get this again when I run out.

1Slice - Lucky 13

coa: https://app.1a4.com/landingpage/1a41203000016b1000000120/183

Picked up from Dankley on sale for $35+tax (normally $50+tax). I have already tried and reviewed 1slice flower and have enjoyed what they had to offer so figured it was a no brainer to try another at this price. Don't have much experience with the original strains in the cross but Cookies and Cream x Blueberry Bang Bang just sounds good so guess you can say goofy strain names got me. Am I a sucker for marketing? Admittedly I am, but I am happy to be influenced like that when it is a brand that I already like and generally trust their flower.

Bag Appeal 9/10: Same exactly feelings on their packaging as my previous 1slice reviews. I like the bag with the tray inside it protects the buds. I got 5 very nice size buds that weighed out to 3.6g. Super frosty and beautiful glimmer with flash on the pics. The buds are decently fresh, I wouldn't call them dry at all but I have had more moist buds before. A few straggler leaves that should have been taken off IMO but recently learned some people and growers like leaving them on. Curious what your thoughts are about trimming and what should/shouldn't be there since I usually rate based off my opinion on it.

Nose 9/10: Has a cookies and cream dominant profile with slightly more emphasis on the cookie part. Also has a gas note and a tiny fruit note on the back end as well. Really solid profile and pretty loud out the bag. I wish the cream was more pronounced since it is my favorite flavor note of everything in here and I think a cream forward bud with a blueberry note would be the easiest 10/10 in my book.

flavor 8.5/10: An incredibly smooth smoke. One of the smoother smoking strains I have had lately with no harshness at all. Nice white ash and a good oil ring. The flavor itself is a bit more muted than the nose but its that same doughy and creamy notes. The gas takes over as the only flavor on the back which I don't mind the lack of citrus. I always enjoy some good gas. The gas note is a lot more prominent in the initial flavor as well.

Effects 9.5/10: This is a very balanced hybrid that relaxes right away but does not knock you out, which I tend to prefer. I enjoy being calm without feeling like I need to go to bed. This is the type of high I want in the evening, winding down, playing video games with friends, which is exactly what I did while smoking this. Still faired my own in counter strike as my metic for am I relaxed or smacked, I was relaxed.

Overall 9/10: Another solid smoke for 1slice. I really enjoy their flower and getting it on sale like this is a no brainer for me. I would/will be trying more of their strains in the future when they have new drops. They post pictures and videos of their grows on their instagram and I always enjoy seeing behind the scenes. Their consistent good flower and their transparency really makes me feel more confident in buying their flower when I see it.

Side note: I know this is my third review of 1slice recently but the reason is because I only recently found a dispensary by me that carries them. I review mostly everything I pick up and when I see really good flower on sale, I am gonna buy it, and then probably review it.

Claybourne Co. - Black Triangle OG

coa: https://app.1a4.com/landingpage/1a4120300000c1f000044359/0

Picked up from Planet Nugg for $50+tax (they ran a buy 1 get 1 30% off sale on this brand). I got this one as a gift for my dad as part of that deal but he let have try it so I wanted to review it as well. This is a totally different strain than the Blue Dream in my previous review and wanted to see if it is better or worse than what I already had.

Bag Appeal 9/10: I got 4 nice size, frosty, and well trimmed buds that weighed an even 3.5. Much better eye test than last strain I tried. Lost a point for the seal being slightly off stuck in the lid. Those seals seem to be an issue for a ton of brands which ends up degrading good flower by time you get it. Fortunately this stuff stayed fresh through it all so maybe this time the seal opened when I took the lid off but I don’t know for sure.

Nose 8/10: Very gassy og smell overall. I love good gassy profiles like this I just wish it was a louder. Could be the seal stuck in lid similar to blue dreams jar but don’t know for sure.

Flavor 8/10: This one was a really nice smoke and flavor matches the nose exactly. This one tastes like straight pure gas which I really enjoy having. Flavor was also a touch muted like the smell was but was not offensive at all just nice gas.

Effects 9.5/10: I bought this to be a very strong indica to smoke before bed and this really hit the nail for that. Full body very strong sedative high. Definitely some couch lock on this but at the same time was pretty decent for some back pain I had so thats always a plus.

Overall 8.625/10: This jar was exactly what it said it was, a strong indica with an og profile and it did a really good job at doing that. Definitely a better experience than their Blue Dream and definitely more justified at the price point. This one smokes and hits way more like top shelf flower and I would definitely consider buying this one again.

Side note: I enjoyed reviewing both of these Claybourne strains back to back because it shows that sometimes not every strain a brand drops will be a hit or miss despite what your first experience was. It is important to do your research to the best of your ability and pay attention to which brands improve overtime or even improve between grow rooms. Not every batch is built the same, even from solid growers, and sometimes it will be better or worse from jar to jar. That is just how it is and always important to take into account when trying something new.

Claybourne Co. - Blue Dream

coa: https://app.1a4.com/landingpage/1a4120300000c1f000005534/0

Picked up from Planet Nugg for $50+tax (they had a buy 1 get 1 30% off this brand). Have been intrigued by this brand with their classic and gold cuts line, and of the MSO brands producing stuff, I have had the best luck with Vireo which grows this brand. Always love a good Blueberry cross and this one claiming to be Blueberry x Haze sounds both tasty and my type of high.

Bag Appeal 5/10: Unfortunately this jar only weighed 3.4g and on top of that has a pretty rough trim job. Lot of leaves and stems that definitely should be removed for this price, this is trimming I expect from Rhythm not a brand pricing themselves as top shelf. Considering it was already underweight, the extra leaves and stems mean there is even less smokeable material. The seal wasn’t fully on jar and came off with the lid. The buds themselves were not dry but also not super moist about average. They are nice sized frosty buds but unfortunately too much lack of quality control for the price to give bag appeal a better rating.

Smell 9/10: This jar has a really nice loud smell to it. It is a very well balanced cross of the Blueberry and Haze and the flavors share the 50/50 split with that hazy gassy smell blending with nice citrus overtones. Not muted at all just through and through a really good blue dream smell.

Flavor 7.5/10: A decently smooth smoke nothing offensive but nothing out of this world. The flavor I loved from the smell is a bit muted on the smoke as well. Had mostly white ash and little oil ring. Not a bad smoke but definitely not amazing for the price.

Effects 8/10: The high from this was pretty strong cerebral high with some body high as well. Gave me a little initial anxiety but it subsided pretty quickly and ended up pretty relaxed. It definitely feels more like an indica high that is more focused on the head if that makes any sense. I would not say this is what I usually expect or necessarily out of a sativa. I would not feel very productive and creative on this but I would be relaxed.

Overall 7.375/10: I would say I’m not super impressed with this given it is $50+tax. I enjoy the classic strain offerings they have but the price point is the same as a lot of top shelf brands and micros that I would much rather grab. I tried their LCG and it was better than this, but it was not mine, and I did not have jar and coa stuff for a proper review but I did also grab their Black Triangle OG as a gift for my dad so might be able to review that one. Im definitely not hating too hard on what Claybourne has offered and I want to see how their gold cuts line stacks up against this but it is price $10 more which at $60/eighth I could buy any the best brands of the NY legal market. I think any brand pricing themselves at this tier has a lot to prove to get someone to drop $55-70otd on an eighth. Any little issue or imperfection can turn someone off because in my opinion those imperfections make the price unjustified and defeats the point of top shelf.

The Kolektor - Big Apple (Review #2)

coa: https://app.1a4.com/landingpage/1a41203000037e0000000032/2500

Picked up from Dankley for $53+tax, as mentioned in my previous few reviews they had buy 3 get 1 so the price ended being better overall. Wanted to try something new and re-review a future batch of something I already reviewed. I have tried the previous batch of Kolektor Big Apple and it scored 9.3125/10. If you want to see that review I linked it at the very bottom of this one. I really enjoyed the strain and saw pictures and videos of this new batch being grown on their instagram story and knew I had to get some. One interesting thing to note is this batch tested 9% lower thc and 1% lower terpenes than the previous batch. My recent skepticism with lab results makes me curious as to what happened here. Is it the grower being worse or is it the labs being weird again (spoiler it’s not the grower).

Bag Appeal 9/10: Essentially the same complaint as last time is the buds get a little squished in these mylar bags but they get an extra .25% for being even frostier this time. IMO they should use that plastic tray that 1slice does if they are gonna use mylar bags it really helps the buds stay better in transport. That aside, these are really beautiful flowers and I think a step up from last batch on eye test. FYI the pic inside the bag is missing nugs that were already smoked I forgot to take the pic before I rolled my dad a joint from it, it happens.

Smell 9.5/10: This batch is gassy and fruity and the fruit comes through a lot more this time it’s really pleasant. The last batch was not as loud as this one upon cracking the bag open so it definitely gets an extra point this time.

Flavor 10/10: This gets the same perfect smoke as last time. The improved flavor profile on smell comes through on the smoke and its super smooth, with white ash, and a dense oil ring. This is what premium weed should smoke like and to me, Kolektor earns his spot being premium for how it smokes alone.

Effects 10/10: Another perfect score on effects for The Kolektor. This one hits hard right away same as last time but has no couch lock or anxiety. This one kept me calm and locked in even when reddit crashed and I had to retype the entire second half of this review 😭.

Overall 9.625/10: Idk how they did it but The Kolektor improved my score on one of my highest rated flowers I had. If they get the packaging upgraded this could be the first real contender for a 10/10 overall. 10/10 is not a score I am willing to give lightly. It really has to be perfect from bag to ash. 100% think this batch is better than the last one and would buy the future batches of this strain if they grow them.

One side-rant I want to talk about with this review is my recent total distrust in all lab results. I would like to think I am a fairly experienced smoker at this point, especially within this NY legal market. You can go through all my reviews and decide if you think I am as well but the point is I know when something weird is going on. The labs on this batch vs the previous one are so drastically different that it needs to be called out. In my mind there is absolutely no way this batch is 9% lower thc and 1% lower terps. I fail to believe it is lower in either category at all. I bought and smoked both of these batches within 1-2 weeks of them hitting shelves using the same paper and filters and same size joint. This along with my recent experience getting weed with visible WPM (white powdery mildew) on it that tested fairly low on yeast and mold while some micro small batch growers are testing in the 100,000s+ with weed that I have seen and smoked and felt were very clean and smooth. Why is every bad MSOs shitty garbage testing 30-40%, crazy high terp%, and clean while small batch micros putting out some of the best weed I ever smoked testing sub 20% with lower terps and higher yeast and mold cfg than I am willing to believe? I wish I knew someone at the OCM that I could ask directly or even have investigate this since every in NY has suffered higher costs due to the strict lab testing and packaging standards the state set, we at least should know we are getting something of value for our extra $ and not bunk lab results.

1Slice - Project Guava

Coa: https://app.1a4.com/landingpage/1a41203000016b1000000077/319

Picked up from Dankley for $50+tax. As mentioned in previous reviews they had buy 3 get 1 one so price ended up being better. The second of the two eighths I got from 1Slice and I really enjoyed the Frosty Bananas so want to see how their Project Guava stacks up. I been loving all the guava rosin but this is my first explicitly guava strain of flower so I am excited to try.

Bag Appeal 8.5/10: As mentioned in my other 1slice review I like their packaging with the plastic tray. These buds are really nice size and great color. They are fresh and sticky but not as covered in trichomes as the frosty bananas.

Smell 10/10: This one has some mean stank on it unlike anything else I have smelled. It has that grapefruit strong note combined with a crazy funk note that is really unique. I wanna say it is more tart than sweet which is a nice mixup from what is usually out there.

Flavor 9/10: Flavor followed the smell pretty well but the tart notes were a little more tame than they smelled. The funk was still there for sure and in a good way. Smokes really smooth with white ash and nice oil ring.

Effects 9.5/10: Compared to some of the guava rosin highs I have enjoyed lately this one was along the same lines. Nice uplifting creative and productive high lets me lock in and chill out at the same time. No anxiety and no couch lock at all.

Overall 9.25/10: Another winner from 1Slice I am really glad I got to try these guys out and I hope I get to have more in the future. I was very impressed with my first time trying a guava strain in flower as opposed to rosin. Definitely recommend trying this out if you see it by you and like this type of strain.

The Kaleidoscope Collective - Permanent Marker

Coa: https://app.1a4.com/landingpage/1a4120300001ca2000000634/96

Picked up from Dankley for $55+tax. As mentioned in previous reviews they had a buy 3 get 1 sale so the price ended up being better. Had tried this brand as one of the Cannabis Cup samples and generally heard positive things about them. Dankley has this brand priced $5 cheaper than all the Long Island spots charging $60 so definitely wanted to take advantage of that. Also saw 3.5% terps on labs which is very rare for NY legal market.

Bag Appeal 10/10: Heavy nice jar sealed with plastic from the outside. No light allowed in this jar and it kept the buds fresh. The buds were beautiful and trimmed perfect. No extra leaves to take off or any unsmokeable material besides stems just nice buds full of trichomes. No complaints here at all.

Smell 9.5/10: The nose hits hard with some lime, gas, and funk. This one was louder than most other flower I had recently. You smell that and know this about to be a good smoke nothing offensive at all. I wish there was a touch more citrus lime note but that is honestly nitpicking since the note is there.

Flavor 9/10: Flavor mostly follows the nose but different notes are more prominent. On the taste the gas is heavy on the front with the funk on the back. It is a little nutty and that lime note from the smell is less pronounced. Great flavor and very clean smooth smoke. Mostly white ash and dense oil ring.

Effects 8.5/10: This is a very heavy hitter right away. Already smacked off a third of the joint and this is heavy head and body high. I definitely think this has some couch lock and you will smoke this to go to sleep or just chill out. I had an initial touch of anxiety but I think that is the Jealousy in the cross of Permanent Marker which has always done that to me and wouldn’t necessarily be the same for others.

Overall 9.25/10: The Kaleidoscope Collective is 2 for 2 in impressing me and seeing it at this $5 cheaper price point is a great site. $55+tax is still steep 100% but seeing prices begin to come down is great as a consumer. Aside from better prices, this is definitely some of the better weed you can buy. This was the only strain available but I think if I could try a strain more in my tastes grown by them it could be a contender for my highest rating. For a strain that historically isn’t my favorite to score above a 9 even shocks me and makes me consider trying other strains I was never crazy about in the past.

Untitled - Blueberry Kush (smalls)

coa: https://app.1a4.com/landingpage/1a4120300000235000001901/4633 (that is all that comes up I wish full labs were there too)

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Dispensary gave me this for free but im not paid or affiliated with them or the brand. Will write the review based on the list price for this but wanted to be transparent that I did not pay for this flower.

This was a freebie but normally retails about $30+tax. I didn’t intend to review and a friend had said that these would probably be really bad, but I cracked the jar and they looked decent. Im not a fan of smalls but I am not gonna say no to a free eighth in this economy. Have not heard much about this brand before this:

Bag Appeal 7.5/10: For smalls I was impressed with the size of these. They are bigger buds than what some brands pass off as whole flower. They have a little frostiness to them but nothing over the top. The jar is glass and came with a seal which is honestly really solid for this price point.

Smell 6/10: On the nose is a battle between the strains actually profile vs earthy and hay smell. The actual blueberry kush is a bit muted but is pretty good, it just gets overpowered by that earthy note that I’m not crazy about. That being said, there was nothing that smelled super gross or offensive so gets a pass from me.

Flavor 7.5/10: I am pleasantly surprised by this smoke. It tastes like a solid kush but the blueberry notes do not come through a lot. It is pretty smooth and burns white ash but no oil ring. At this price I would not be mad about this at all.

Effects 7.5/10: Heavy indica leaning on this one. Has me slouched back and chilling. I wouldn’t say im totally couch locked but I wouldn’t say I am gonna be productive smoking this. Overall decent effects.

Overall 7.125/10: Went in not expecting much from a company whose branding is as vague as the reputation, but this is pretty good for the price. The buds were decent and the smoke was decent and overall the score it got was pretty decent. I probably wouldn’t buy this again because I don’t like smalls but I would consider this brands whole flower since they usually on sale where they are stocked and I always need a budget buy to pair with all the top shelf and micros that eat my wallet up.

Jerome Baker - NYC Sour Diesel (7g)

coa: https://app.1a4.com/landingpage/1a4120300000db4000000825/369

*see bottom of review for an important edit after it was posted already*

Picked up from Dankley for $65+tax. As mentioned in my last review, they had buy 3 get 1 free all flower so the price was better for me. I have tried this brand before and I am a sucker for anyone saying they have a ny sour diesel.

Bag Appeal 8/10 changed down to 3/10 (see edit): The jar is solid, heavy, and does not let light in. Love the packaging, especially for the price. The flower itself has mix size of buds but is pretty frosty and fresh.

Smell 8/10: Does this pass the sour diesel smell test? In my opinion it hits all the check boxes of what you want in a sour. You get hit with gas and funk with some citrus and more funk on the back. Is this the “old school” smell? No, but I 100% would say this is more of a sour diesel than a lot of what some brands try to pass as sour diesel.

Flavor 6.5/10: The flavor is a bit muted compared to the smell but nothing unpleasant. It is same flavor profile as the smell and smokes ok. For this price it smokes as good as anything else in this price point. I was not expecting this to go toe to toe with any top shelf micros but it gets the job done for the price.

Effects 6/10: Effects were pretty mellow overall. Didn’t give me creative or productive boost which is unlike how real sour is for me. It is not the strongest high for something boasting 26%. That being said, this is by no means bad weed. I am still fairly relaxed but just not what I expected or wanted out of a sour d.

Overall 7.25/10 changed down to 5.875/10 (see edit): Once again, I think this brand offers really nice value weed. Im happy to buy a jar when I see it and I never feel like I’m being ripped off. This may not be the “real sour d” to some people but it is something I would but again if I wanted to save a few bucks.

EDIT: Thanks for a comment pointing out powdery mildew and I took a closer look and unfortunately this stuff has quite a bit. Labs didn’t test this high for mold but it is visible. Im lowering the bag appeal rating to 3/10 and lowers overall to 5.875/10. Not a zero because of packaging and the buds looked pretty decent initially. Pretty disappointing. Not sure if I should still smoke this if there is powdery mildew. Definitely blame the brand for this and not the dispensary, how are they supposed to know when jars aren’t see through and labs were not too bad. More proof that labs can’t be trusted when really top shelf flower tests high in mold but looks and smokes amazing yet this flower with visible wpm was not super high in mold.

Update: They will refund the 1/8th for the PM and will get it tested again to find out what happened. Overall situation handled well.

1Slice - Frosty Bananas

coa: https://app.1a4.com/landingpage/1a41203000016b1000000117/352

Picked up from Dankley for $50+tax, they had a buy 3 get 1 free sale for all flower so price overall ended up being a lot cheaper buying a lot but for sake of the review it is based of list price. Excited to finally try these guys I have heard and seen good things about their flower. They post videos of their grow on their insta story and I always love transparency like that. I love banana strains and was also intrigued on the lower thc%.

Bag Appeal 9.5/10: Came in a little plastic tray inside of a mylar bag. The plastic was a nice touch to protect the buds and did a pretty good job at that. Very nice looking frosty nuggs. Good size as well no smalls in here at all 0.6g was the lightest of them and weighed out to 3.6g overall.

Smell 8.5/10: Really nice flavor profile with cream on the front with some sweet fruit and touch candy on the backend. It is definitely not muted but I wish it smelled a bit stronger I would have given it a 10 because of how nice this profile is. The cream dominant stuff has grown on me a lot this year I haven’t seen a ton of it before then.

Flavor 9.5/10: Hits really nice and smooth. The flavor from the smell comes through a lot better on the smoke. Mostly white ash and nice oil ring while smoking.

Effects 8.5/10: This is a nice mellow high and the 50/50 split definitely comes through well. Very relaxed but not smacked out of my mind which I really enjoy. Im not sure how accurate any thc% are but this 19% hit harder than some stuff labeled 30%. That being said, I do not think this is near 30% and Banana strains tend to be on the lower end from what I understand.

Overall 9/10: I am very happy I finally got to try some flower from 1slice. This stuff is fresh and very solid top shelf bud. I would definitely like to try more from them since they have a lot of interesting crosses on the menu. I did pick up their Project Guava as well since I have been really enjoying the Guava stuff as of late and I plan on reviewing as well.

*I am not affiliated with or paid by any brands. I buy all my weed and my reviews are my own*

Trout & Co - Sour Cherries (Tier 2)

coa: https://app.1a4.com/landingpage/1a41203000022e1000000183/566

Purchased from Dankley on sale for $54+tax over 7/10 weekend (normally $68+tax). I got a few different things with 7/10 deals so expect a few reviews from me. I have had Trout before and was not blown away for the price, but everyone else loves their rosin so I wanted to try again. I do love how they are the only brand doing thumbprints, fresh press, amerpersand type stuff I love the variety.

Bag Appeal 6.5/10: Packaging is the same as last time which is fine but the rosin is definitely a bit dark. I know this is tier 2 but when it costs $68+tax, I do expect better color. You can get a lot of tier 1 for cheaper prices.

Smell 9/10: The nose on this things is pretty great. Definitely got sour tart citrus notes and the terps come through really well which is exactly what I want from a strain like this.

Flavor 7.5/10: The notes are there but not as much as the smell. I definitely still enjoy the flavor but wish it was as strong as the smell. Rosin itself is mostly smooth but does burn dark even on low temp on my puffco and can make it a touch harsh.

Effects 8/10: This strain hits pretty hard with mostly head high and a touch of body high. I am pretty relaxed but don’t feel out of it or couch lock.

Overall 7.75/10: This rosin is decent but same feeling as last time, the price is too high. Charging $68 for tier 2 while other brands have better tier 1 for $50-60 is rough. I don’t want this to be a hate on the brand review because I do like the stuff Trout does, but it is hard for me to say it is worth the very steep price.

Side note, shoutout Dankley for having good 710 deals when none of my local LI dispensaries did. The delivery was on time and was really stoked to see the dude has a whole cooler in his car just to keep concentrates cold. They also had better quality selection and prices than the LI spots and I say both to praise them and also throw shade at my local spots to do better.

*All my reviews are my own and I purchase all my products unless otherwise stated. I am not paid by any brands in the industry*

Black Rabbit Farms - Sour Diesel

Purchased from Happy Days for $60+tax after a ton of people vouching for them. I was especially interested in this “20+yr old sour cut” and seeing if it is close. Definitely not a daily smoke at that price this was a treat for myself. I do want to note that originally I made a post seeing the price at $65.40 which was super steep and since then, the price was brought down to $60 later in that day. I have deleted the other post for that reason and decided to review it.

Bag Appeal 8/10: This category is the only one that really brings this flower down at all. I took 1 point for the plastic jar and 1 point for the straggler leaves on the trim. At this price the trim should be perfect and I expected glass or something more durable and darker than the regular plastic. Aside from that these buds are extremely frosty and sticky. Truthfully no flower has been near as sticky as this in a very long time for me.

Smell 9.5/10: Here is where this one shines for me its really gassy, funky, and definitely not like any weed I tried on legal market so far. As someone who has only been smoking the last decade, this is what I assume that “real old school sour” smells like.

Flavor 10/10: This flower smokes how it smells and it has been a while since I had weed that tastes like the sour I had 10 years ago that I initially fell in love with. The gas comes through even more on smoke than the smell. The limonene being dominant gives everything a really nice balance. Very smooth smoke overall and clean burn.

Effects 9.5/10: Head high that has me very mellow but locked in at the same time. For me, this is as close to the sour d I grew to love as you can get. Made me happy and not tired or any couch lock which I really enjoy. Definitely a little body high as well but as I said not super tired or feeling out of it from this.

Overall 9.25/10: I am very pleasantly surprised by this flower. This was the closest I feel like I ever got to the sour diesel I had when I first started smoking in 2015/2016. The flavor and high is exactly what I remember and while I’m not an “old school” smoker by any means, I do know good flower when I smoke it. Im happy so many people had good things to say about Black Rabbit and while $60 is very pricey, I can understand why this is top shelf flower. I would buy this again and definitely go out of my way for this flower if I saw it at a better price.

Side note: I also tried the Haleys Comet but saw someone posted a review on it right before I was going to write mine. I think their review was solid and similar sentiment so I did not want to post the same strain on same day. Feel free to check that review if you wanted to see other good strains from them.

*I am not paid by any brands or growers and I purchase my own flower. All my reviews are my own and intended for research purposes for others to see pics and opinions while shopping*

New highest priced 1/8th on legal market?

Hi yall,

Here with another discussion post asking about why the price of new top shelf items seems to be going up overtime instead of down. I recently saw my dispensary carry Black Rabbit, which I heard fantastic things about, but the price is even more egregious than wizard trees at $65.40+tax. This has to be the most expensive 1/8th I ever seen and I am curious as to what price they sell to the dispensary vs how much markup there is.

Anyone try this brand and have pics of the flower or know their strains? I know that no weed is worth this price tag so no need to tell me that but just curious as to why it’s this expensive.

Any cannabis brands that DO NOT use AI slop to replace a graphic designer?

Hi yall,

You probably know me from my reviews on here but I come today with a different question. Im a graphic designer and I obviously love weed so I would love to do some work within this industry. Sadly, I see so many brands that are just using ai slop to replace paying a graphic designer. Even brands that I really enjoy their flower or dabs have been guilty of this and it is heartbreaking every time.

I know some brands are on here and I want to know if there any that 100% will not use ai? Are there any that would consider hiring a fulltime graphic designer? Are there any brands that are working towards a license that would hire a graphic designer to try and establish an identity before hitting the shelves?

To a degree, this is a self ad looking for a job, but I also would love to know the general consensus on this topic. I would also be more willing to try brands with a hard anti-ai stance due to the environmental, economic, and even health harm that it causes.

Mini Mart - Banana Bread (Mexico)

coa

Purchased from Strain Stars on sale for $19+tax (normally $24+tax). Have had mini mart before and was happy given the price. Under $20 before tax is insanely low for NY market, even for budget options so want to see if they are still solid for the price.

Bag Appeal 8/10: I like the world cup bags and appreciate their themed drops. Feel like it helps you buy fresher batches when you know what holiday or event it was dropped for. For the price this is decently trimmed and decently fresh and sticky. Some leaves and stems but nothing too egregious. Nugs are small to medium sized and decently frosty as well. Came with a humidity pack which is fantastic for the price.

Smell 5/10: Not super loud and very earthy smell with a touch of pine. Not my favorite profile but nothing that smelled really offensive with it just not super pleasant.

Taste 6/10: Follows through on the smell but it was not harsh and burned decent. Flavor is the only real letdown.

Effects 7/10: Head and body high that hits pretty quick. It is pretty strong hard hitting smoke that shocked me at the price point. Initially a hint of anxiety but if faded in 1-2min and then I was chillin.

Overall 6.5/10: This was not my favorite offering I had from mini mart, but flavor profile aside, it is still really solid for the price. I enjoy being able to mix and match an oz with different strains for under $180 and get decent enough bud every time. With all the micros and top shelf I smoke I need some cheaper options as well.
