I've seen it many, many times on YCombinator, and expect it to be the new talking point going forward for Anthropic and OpenAI's future domination. "The hardware coming up online will make inference cheaper" as an argument is hilariously wrong when the hardware is bought on loans that need to be repaid.

Remember the whole "oh you haven't tried Opus 5.smth for real with Claude Code"? Yeah bro, that thing costs 27x times fucking base Sonnet 4. Inference price isn't down, it's gone ballistic.

Let us use it to iter over and over menial bugs because the CTO's a moron burning the rainforest.

If a company really needs AI, it will go for the cheapest possible solution, and that might just be getting hardware, or being sold hardware time to run models that are completely free to them. They don't give a shit about the training costs. No, the inference of big AI isn't going down to save them.
