I Read The King in Yellow (and survived)

With the amount of work that Obsidian Codex Press were putting into this entire project, I went in expecting a certain standard and by god did they deliver.

I would have been more than happy if this was just a well written, slightly eerie, play script. But I truly was not prepared for just how impressed I was going to be with this book.
Act 1 which takes up the first 30 pages or so, is beautifully written, sets a perfect tone and sucks you into this mysterious world.

But as with its fictional counter-part, it is with Act 2 that this play truly reveals itself, and i became so very excited to see where it was going. It felt like the perfect way to adapt the eldritch, madness enduing properties of the 'original.'

My only regret now is that only a few hundred people will really be able to have the same experience that i did reading this play. Though my mind is already racing with ideas of readings, or even a full cast audio performance of this would be incredible.

I don't know how feasible that is, and I would never want to stand on OCPs toes, but it truly would be such a crying shame for this incredible work to go unenjoyed by people who were not able to join the Kickstarter, or kick up the few remaining copies when this goes to retail.

Obsidian Codex Press and The King in Yellow.

I cannot wait to dive into the play script and see what they have done with it, but every part of this is absolutely beautiful and I am so glad i was able to back it. This along with Kennith Heights Annotated KIY seems like the absolute must haves for big fans of these stories.
