Thoughts on "Shada" in a different timeline.
OK, so the versions of "Shada" I've experienced are the original BBC reconstruction with Tom Baker's linking bits that some people think were the first appearance of the Curator, the Eighth Doctor cartoon version, and the novelisation.
And I was enjoying the live-action version, until we hit the only scene they managed to film with a Krarg, and I thought it was an absolutely disastrous monster, on a par with the Nimon or the Myrka.
I suspect that while after cancellation everyone thought it would have been a superb story that would have raised the reputation of S17 as a whole, if it had been completed it would have been thought of more along the style of "The Stones of Blood" -- a story with an excellent, atmospheric first half set on contemporary Earth, but which fell a bit flat when it moved into embarrassingly silly and low-budget space opera.
