Pretty obvious saying this, but it's crazy to think that 12 has so far been the only main New Who incarnation who RTD hasn't written for

Not counting both the War and Fugitive Doctors, but so far, 12 is the only main incarnation of the Doctor in New Who who Russell T Davies hasn't written for since he wrote for 9, 10, 14 and 15 during his two times as showrunner (and will obviously write for 16 in the upcoming 2026 Christmas special), but also wrote for 11 in The Sarah Jane Adventures episode "Death of the Doctor", and for 13 for her cameo in "The Reality War" (one of the better parts of that episode IMHO).

It's also interesting to think RTD did almost write for 12 since he was apparently approached to write the Series 9 premiere about Davros being on trial, before this was ultimately scrapped and Moffat wrote "The Magician's Apprentice"/"The Witch's Familiar" instead.

How do you think 12 would've been portrayed under RTD had he written for him. Please try and be civil though.

TIL Alex Kingston played a character named Miranda POND in Law and Order SVU a few years before Eleven’s tenure began

Another Doctor Who/Blake's 7 overlap.

I just spotted Travis in the crew from "Robots of Death" . I've watched this episode a billion times but never made the connection. But this time I heard his voice and knew I knew it from somewhere and then it only took a moment to work out. It's funny because BBC SciFi only shows Red Dwarf now (as I feared they would) so I haven't seen Blake's 7 in ages.

Thoughts on "Shada" in a different timeline.

OK, so the versions of "Shada" I've experienced are the original BBC reconstruction with Tom Baker's linking bits that some people think were the first appearance of the Curator, the Eighth Doctor cartoon version, and the novelisation.

And I was enjoying the live-action version, until we hit the only scene they managed to film with a Krarg, and I thought it was an absolutely disastrous monster, on a par with the Nimon or the Myrka.

I suspect that while after cancellation everyone thought it would have been a superb story that would have raised the reputation of S17 as a whole, if it had been completed it would have been thought of more along the style of "The Stones of Blood" -- a story with an excellent, atmospheric first half set on contemporary Earth, but which fell a bit flat when it moved into embarrassingly silly and low-budget space opera.

Redrew my old Tenth Doctor and Mels Pond artwork from an abandoned project

Context: Back then, when I was called Echo Pond, I had an old idea to make an alternate timeline where 10 Bigenerated and The Eleventh Hour would be a 10 + 11 post-bigen story. I also added Mels for fun bc I wanted 10 and Mels to parallel 11 and River for future episodes of this alternate timeline but I ended up abandoning the project.

No matter how much time passes, seeing David Tennant in his trench coat and blue suit warms my heart.

Instances of the 'Doctor who?' joke

Was just watching 'The Gunfighters' and got a kick out of the Doctor introducing himself with a fake name, being asked, "Doctor who?' and replying 'Quite right!'

I always enjoyed this joke in the 11th Doctor era, and of course Missy's take on it and the TARDIS team dynamic

I wonder if there's some compilation of all the jokes on the title of the show. Anyway, share your favorite 'Doctor who?' moments plz!

I personally like to interpret the Doctor, especially the classic ones, as asexual. What do you think?

Can we have an honest discussion about the treatment of 15? And possibly 13 and why they are regarded by so many and such negative ways in the fandom

The picture comes from a post about the current tolerance of members of the community. So I'm asking we all have our likes and dislikes but what about 15 is so problematic is it his race is sexuality I honestly want to know.

What's a Fact About The Series That Sounds Fake But Is True?

My examples:

The explanation that the TARDIS translates languages for the companions was never said explicitly until 2005.

The Doctor never met any historical figures in Series 9 or 10 of New Who.

The era of just the 4th Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith travelling together only lasted one year.

The Daleks are confirmed extinct at the end of their very first episode. Later episodes simply ignore this with timey-wimey explanations.

The Doctor has smoked multiple times in the show, for example in "An Unearthly Child" and "The Talons Of Weng-Chiang"

The 3rd Doctor only said "Reverse The Polarity of The Neutron Flow" once in his original era.

The Doctor doesn't visit any alien planets on-screen in Series 1 of New Who.

Doctor Who reference

I found a Doctor Who reference in the Sherlock Holmes Chapter One video game!

Finally reading the 8th Doc TV Movie novelization

So, I picked up the TV Movie novelization (2021 edition) earlier this year and I'm finally starting to read it. Already, I wish we'd seen some of the pre-movie events involving the 7th Doctor! I'm not sure if this was material cut from the script or stuff Gary Russell wrote himself for the book, but it would have been great seeing more Sylvester McCoy content, talking with Gallifrey's Madam President (Romana II?) about what was happening with the Master, as well as sneaking over to Skaro to get the Master's remains.

Are there any other added bits in the novelisation you wish had been in the movie?

Is this the Seal of Rassilon in the Good Omens finale? The show seems to have a lot of Doctor Who references

There's a scene where Aziraphale uses a piece of Doctor Who memorabilia as an incentive for a shop owner in Season 2. Job is also played by Pete Davison (the actor for the Fifth Doctor and David Tennant's father-in-law). Derek Jacobi, Michael Sheen and numerous other actors who have appeared in Doctor Who are also in the show. The number plate for the Youngs' car is SIDRAT (Tardis backwards and the space-time vessel utilised by the War Lords in the Second Doctor story The War Games).

"Day if the Doctor "- why are my reactors being told to look away at the beginning when they see Matt Smith?

Sorry if it's been covered before. Ive been a whovian since e the reboot, seen that special a hundred times. The going trend is to tell a reactor to look away as soon as they see Matt Smith, and not look back until they hear a soldier tell "attention!" While the scene is funny in a Moffat style, I can't see any4hing spoilery, fun, or "aha". Any help?

EDIT:::: OK, thanks for the immediately amazing answers. I am oblivious to credits, and that wouldn't have clicked in 4 regenerations. Much love to the fans out there.

EDIT 2: I'm so happy to see the nuances in these responses. Youbare awesome.

Does anyone have any good videos that have all of the Leitmotifs in New Who and which character each one goes to? I really want to know what each Leitmotif means and who it corresponds to,
