Doubts about The Rani's name

Doubts about The Rani's name

Why does The Rani calls herself The Rani ? Rani means Queen in Hindi. But what is she the queen of ?

The Doctor and The Masters name makes sense to me, The Doctor is someone who helps people like a Doctor and The Master is a sadistic with a lust for power. They want people to worship them, to bow to them. To see how powerful they are.

The Rani is a geneticist, an unethical geneticist. So is she like the Queen of biology who conducts unethical experiments. Does she thinks of herself as a Queen because she's a above the unethical nature, people cant touch her like people in the past couldn't touch a queen (well atleast that's what kings and queens used to think). Does she want people to worship her like people worship people in power because she can do anything with biology and genetic engineering.

Or is this simply an ego case where she thinks she is above all because she's a time lord and it has nothing to do with biology.

I am not sure if I should ask this here. What am I doing wrong ? Trying to watch doctor who on bbc iplayer

Two days ago I decided to give bbc iplayer a try with the help of a virtual private network. It worked, but when I try to cast it to my tv, it doesn't work. At first the screen wasn't even mirroring, I had to change some settings in the vpn to get it to mirror. After it the tv only shows up when I am already mirroring before opening the app but it doesn't cast the episode. I tried by downloading the episode and then disconnecting the vpn, but it still didn't work. The end result was still the same, no tv in casting menu unless I am mirroring before launching ye app and still mirroring even when I tap my tv in the menu. I mean this isn't what's supposed to happen right, it's not supposed to mirror the screen rather, only the content.

I found this 7 year old video and according to it, the tv screen shouldnt show my entire mobile screen while casting. Can someone tell me what am I doing wrong ?

Asking it here because main subreddit doesn't allow the mention of vpn and r/gallifrey doesn't support images.

My theory about how the Paradox Machine works

Was rewatching series 3, today I watched sound of drums. While watching it, my brain mustered up a theory on how the Paradox Machine works.

I think the Paradox Machine creates a temporary copy of the universe and holds it in a pocket dimension. From there the things or creatures came into the main universe through a rift between two universes. That's what we see happening in Sound of Drums.

If the paradox machine stopped working the pocket copy universe would cease to exist and hence, any thing or creature that came from it. Hence, any changes made my those in the main universe couldn't have happened and so the time reverts to when the paradox machine was first activated.

Why is the 5th Doctor's outfit called a Cricket outfit?

I was reading about the 5th doctor and it mentioned that his outfit was a cricket outfit, but nothing about his outfit screams cricket to me, except maybe the white collars of his polo shirt. I know he played cricket, I once saw a clip of it in some compilation but beyond that I don't understand.

(posing as a guy who lives in doctor who universe) How did Vincent Van Gogh knew about the Blue Police Call Box from 1960s.

I was visiting Musée d'Orsay Paris, France and there they had a display of some paintings if Vincent Van Gogh. That's where I noticed this.

It's really weird that one of the Vincent Van Gogh's painting features a Blue Police Call Box from 1960s. The paintings called Sunset at Montmajour. You can find the high quality scan of the painting on Wikimedia. I mean it has to be a coincidence, it's not like Vincent Van Gogh was visited by a time traveller who showed him this. Time Travel's not possible. Well whatever I am knackered, I gotta take a nap.

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this. I had a weird dream, and when I woke up from it, I could still feel the sensation from it.

More info - My hand was scratched by some animal or someone with wolverine like claws, I am not sure I had this dream some time ago. When I woke up, I could still feel the scratch. Whys that ??

A question for orignal Whovians (if any of them are here). What was it like when the doctor regenerated for the first time

A question to people who started watching the show when the first doctor's era was airing. I don't expect a lot of them to be here, since they must be in their late 60s-early 70s. But if anyone of you is here, can you tell me what the reaction was, when William Hartnell regenerated in The Tenth Planet and was replaced by Patrick Troughton. Or I suppose if someone has read some magazine from that time, which contained the reactions from that time can answer too.

Found a random doctor who reference in a place I never would have expected

So yesterday while eating dinner, my sis and father were watching this Indian show that they love called Jeannie aur Juju on YouTube. I like it, but wasn't really paying attention, was just playing Among Us on my mobile. I looked upto the screen at just the right time and this painting caught my eye. I first only noticed the TARDIS but I was 80% sure I also saw Susan, had to rewind it to be sure.

Would you people want to have a show about Krypton in like 5 years time.

A show named Krypton already exists, like someone travelled to past and got to Krypton and then wants to save Superman, meets Kal-El's grandpa, was supposed to be a prequel to mos but was quickly turned into something else. Haven't watched it.

My preferred version of DCU show about Krypton would be a limited series of 1 season containing 12 episodes. It would be divided into two volumes. Volume 1 would be 8 episodes long and set on Krypton and Volume 2 would be 4 episodes long, set on Argo.

It would explore the Kryptonian biology, ecology, politics, morality, technology, knowledge and people. A great way to expand what we know of Krypton for the time being. We can also see what other Kryptonians were like how the life's of normal people were and how Kryptons destruction affected people on a more personal level. It could also explore Kryptons place in the universe, how other cultures interacted with them and thought of them. Were they a pompous race, refusing to interfere or were they someone who regularly travelled to planets with yellow sun and did stuff.

Maybe we can see how Braniac interacted with them, or doomsday or darkseid.

I realised something about the finale, it might be intentional or just a side effect of me over complicating something.

I was rewatching few of the stranger things clips on YouTube, one of them was the finale dnd one. Whenever the flash forwards came about what the party will do, it always stung me that Will was reduced to his sexuality and for Lucas and Max, it was just yeah, they are together.

I realised something while I watched it, it might not have been intentional or it might have been, I don't know that.

The Flash Forwards don't show what the party will do in the future, it shows what makes them the happiest or most at peace in the future.

For Dustin it was studying science or an adventure with Steve.

For Will it was being somewhere where he was accepted and wasn't bullied for being different.

For Lucas and Max, it was when they were together, when they were standing by each other's side, no matter what.

For Mike it was writing, the only thing that gave him some peace after El's death/supposed death.

What do y'all think and what's your opinion on this ?

Some things I want to talk about about Supergirl, not a review though.

In the movie Kara said she was born 8 years after Krypton was destroyed, but she also said she was 10 years younger then Clark, so was she just rounding off or was Clark 2 years old when Krypton was destroyed.

I like how the Krypton looked medeivial roman style. The Kryptonians called Kryptonite, Kryptonash, funny name for a thing that can end you. I liked how Kara's blood started crystallizing into Kryptonite when she was shot with the Kryptonite arrow, reminded me of the Kryptonite effects from My Adventures with Superman.

Also the Kryptonian message was real, its now completely set in stone even in universe that Jor-El and Laura Lor-Van wernt the best people. They wanted Kal-El to conquer. Funny how in a lot of iterations Clraks bio parents want him to do good, help those who can't help themselves, be kind but here it was Kara's parents. They didn't like the idea of her becoming some sort of conqueror a god to people of Earth.

What did Steven Moflat mean by this ? Did he knew ?

(Music intensifies) I am not a good man, I am not a bad man, I am an idiot (music stops) ... (music resumes) with a box and a screwdriver

if you add 6 and 7 you get 13, then you multiply 1 and 3 you get 3, then you add 7 and 3 you get 10 and then you add 10 and 6 you get 16, then you add 1 and 6 you get 7 and then multiply 1 and 6 you get 6, then you multiply 6 and 10 you get 60 and then you add 60 and 7, you get 67

It isn't the DCU sub without doom and gloom every few months. Its like a tradition at this point

Superman didn't make enough money (even though it did) is the DCU dead before it even properly began. Peacemaker s2 finale is bad, how can it be. Its a blasphemy, DCU needs to be perfect, it is the end for DCU.

Batman batb has Ande Muschietti as director and Christina Hodson as the writer. Is the DCU dead now because batman batb has The Flash writer and director attached to it while casually forgetting that The Flash was a Frankenstein movie, stuck in development hell. Both of them have proved themselves to be decent to great at what they do outside of the flash.

Lanterns teaser drops, no green, suits bad, taking what the showrunner said as a joke to be a FACT, forming opinions without watching the show, dcu dead with its third show. Supergirl a mid movie, early reveiws and reactions are mixed, it might not make enough, DCU is dead with its second movie.

Now I need all of you to remember The Incredible Hulk, it was the second project in the MCU released at a time when the superhero market of that time, could be compared to today's time easily because, superhero movies weren't big enough back then and people now are kinda fatigued by the bad movies. This is not the end guys, DCU had a better run then the MCU in its initial year, we got more and better projects.

I know it might seem like it, but it's not the end of DCU, chill out a bit, wait for the movie to release, it may or may not rose to a higher rating then now. I don't have very high expectations of supergirl, but at the very least I think it would be a decent superhero flick and let's talk about it once the movie is released to the public and form your own opinions instead of repeating what you heard on the internet. Now if clayface and lanterns are bad then I might be concerned.

I just made a weird connection while I was watching MAWS s3 with Stranger Things s4

In MAWS Season 3 Episode 2, Jimmy is seen pushing Kara away because, he thinks Kara should explore the Earth first, find her people and do things that people do, learn what is it's like on Earth and what is it's like to live with all the bad and good experiences (he isn't wrong I mean) and she only likes him because he was the first person she met on Earth (before Clark) and once she explores the world even a tiny bit, she would realise this and would find someone better (hope Jimmy comes to his senses and realises that Kara liking him doesn't have anything to do with him being the first person she met)

The last part comes from Jimmy's insecurity about him being not good enough. It reminded me of the s4 El and Mike discourse, in it we saw Mike thinking the same about himself, him being not enough and El only likes him because he was one of the first person she met.

This version of Kara and El are similar in some ways. They both were exploited by their so called father, once they found their way into the real world they wanted to explore it and live life to the fullest, they found a family and friends, people who cared about them and people they cared about, found someone they loved romantically (the person pushed them away because of the same insecurities), saved the world. I hope she doesn't die by the end of MAWS.

I am posting this here too because I wanted to here opinions from both fandoms, as I have watched both.

Can you all help me find a world's finest edit, it used the sins of the father dialogue and has sort of Balck and white effect too for some scenes.

I saw it on insta, does anyone else also saw it and if you did, do you happen to remember who created it or have it in saved.

A Very good article from screenrant (after a long time) about James Gunn

This article enlists the movies and shows he made, things he wrote and things he directed as a creative working in the industry. This was about his journey as a screenwriter and then a director, and how some events shaped what he eventually became.

James Gunn is genuinely one of the better cbm writer and(or) director alongside the russos.
