I don't wanna hear excuses like the Henry Cavill example anymore. He lives with Jimmy, is publicly friends with Supergirl, is dating Lois Lane, dresses up as Superman next to Supergirl on Halloween at their apartment, Jon YELLED "Hi Dad" in public, followed by Supergirl and Jimmy arriving on the scene. Stop with the cope. The city KNOWS.

We're almost at the halfway point but it feels like you could cut him out of every episode and loose nothing. All he's done is play with farm toys and get tossed around by supervillains he doesn't even care about.

and we like them both!

Could the "That man is gone." line maybe actually refer to Toyman dying from all the damage sustained rather than that being about Hank losing himself as a person?

The reporting bit that Hank is playing seems to be outside of the Super Convention building, right after Hank punched a hole in it with that Gundam, with the crater seemingly being left empty here. Lois has that same outfit from that day and the microphone is probably the one Lex had when he was boasting about Hank and taunting her about doing a piece for the Daily Planet.

The "Hank is not our hero" line seems pretty much to be in response to Lex's "American hero" speech, while the "no coming back from" line also seems to rather add some gravity towards the "That man is gone." line, like there's no coming back from that outcome.

Also, the Technopathy ability doesn't really seem to have anything to do with Lex's augmentations, it rather looks more likely to be an unexpected evolution of Hank's powers that is only starting to occur in this very episode, beginning with finding that reporter mentioning his Cyborg Superman persona, so that must have taken place the Inter Gang outing and after that Lois interview.

The alternate theory

Maybe what Lex has used to recreate Hank as Cyborg Superman (and in one review it is mentioned Lex has used Kryptonian DNA), already contains some of the Brainiac coding, that perhaps isn't just limited to what is probably stored now at the Fortress of Solitude.

Perhaps those remnants from Brainiac that might be incorporated inside Hank are actually starting to properly "infect" him now, after a while, like a computer virus and maybe that's why he is only now gaining the Technopathic abilities, since Brainiac also used to be able to manipulate tech before to some degree.

It was shown how Brainiac was able to implant or show convincing real and fake memories with Clark and Kara to manipulate them. Now with Brainiac essentially being part of Hank, in this case, it would be much easier for him to simply create some fake scenarios in Hank's mind, like with Lois talking that way about Hank right after he brutalized Toyman. It would be quite a realistic scenario, and the setup is right there even if in reality it might not had actually taken place at all.

Also planting that false sense of grandeur with that first reporter, getting a more distorted reaction from Lex compared to his original tone and then solidifying his full rejection by everyone else by taking advantage of his past connection with Lois whose rejection was always bound to hurt him the most and make him go to the deep end with no going back from that point onwards seems to be the perfect way to make him crash-out and want to kill Superman for good without caring about any sort of casualties at all.

So in this scenario, maybe Lois never actually responded to Lex and that is all that happened that day, while Brainiac potentially compromising him without Hank being aware, is the one who is actually pulling the strings in secret and manipulating him by having a person close to him outright rejecting him, which is leading him not to even have any value left at all not just for the aliens, but to all other people as well.

Jon doesn't seem to know about Brainiac's involvement in the past, so he only knows about Hank as Cyborg Superman destroying his future all on his own, while Clark and Kara are more attuned to Brainiac and maybe how he might be the missing piece to this puzzle that ties into this version of Cyborg Superman and maybe the future one as well.

You can see it Behind Lex in this scene, now this could just be me overanalyzing and it could just background detail but the words are very specific and considering that the characters are trying to save Superman in the next episode as it says in it's description he definetly has a Kryptonite power core like the Metallos which makes sense why he is even a threat to 3 kryptonians next episode.

Seeing Lois just over these 4 is hilarious

I mean, in the comics he’s such a badass. Is this just how younger slade Wilson is in the comics?
