I’m thinking of writing a fic about AA x spawn tav. It’s mostly relationship drama and psychological fuckery but I might include a sex scene at some point but I’m pondering on how I should write it due to vampirism and the sensations that come with it (or don’t come with it).

Ascended Astarion says when he offers to sleep with player as “One last night. one for the road”, and that paired with the response “I forgot I’d be cold to the touch” I take that as it’s suggested as a spawn you’ll feel less. And that lead me to think- what does sex feel like for them?

I personally shift towards vampires still experience pleasure since their sense of touch seems just fine; punching Astarion in the face in act 1 still seemed like it really hurt, so it’s not like they only feel things when it’s on the extreme side (such as torture). It is perhaps dulled but still every much there. So I expect pleasure to be the same? Desires and sensations are lessened but not dead.

Plus I think it adds more to Astarion’s struggle with intimacy if it’s not because he doesn’t experience pleasure. It’s the emotionless and forced nature of being used- not the lack of pleasure of the senses. It’s a common “argument” people make against victims- it felt good so you actually wanted it. Sure it FEELS good but that doesn’t matter. If what he feels is essentially nothing then yeah, no surprise he’s not interested in having sex, nobody would be. Either way it’s extremely fucked up to be treated the way he was, obviously. I just took it as the amount of pleasure from the act didn’t particularly matter in his decision to take sex off the table, not that it there was no pleasure.

I dunno. I think it feels slightly inconsistent with what AA says when he turns you and what Raphael says about the ritual returning “arousals & appetites of man” when he explains what the rite is, and then not committing to spawn/true vampires don’t feel anything and are essentially dead to sensation. How can pain be fully realised but not touch/pleasure?

I know it doesn’t really matter and I can write what I want but I still would like to be as close to canon as possible and not just doing whatever the hells I feel like.

Do you think Spawn tav/durge will be able to enjoy sex as spawn or have they given up that simple pleasure? I think the sadness of it could be interesting (and heartbreaking) to write about honestly. But I’m not sure which side of the fence I’m on.
