Shonk needs to be re-chonked

I lost my previous house I owned with my ex. I am currently living with my parents. Because of the rush my possessions were all jumbled. I have just managed to dig my smaller Haj out of storage. I'm reuniting my two shocks.

Shortly before I moved houses I had to replace the UV light for my ratsnake. Not the bulb but the fitting. As it turns out this was a mistake. The new unit broke in the move. Cursing myself I bought a new one. Before installing it I plugged it in and checked that it worked. It would not fit in the old brackets so I replaced them (for the second time now). I pushed it into the bracket and fed the wire into the enclosure. Now it doesn't work 😭. What did I do wrong? Are these things so delicate that they break when you clip them into their brackets? Is there something I missed? Could it be faulty? Am I just unlucky with UV lights? I don't think that I have the money to replace this for a third time. Please, any advice would help now.

Tldr: I installed a new unit for my UV light, it doesn't work. What can I do about this?
