Furnace replacement grants?

Curious if anyone knows of any grants or funding to help replace a furnace for a very low income, single parent? Specifically in Ontario. It’s a very specific kind of HVAC unit (for a condo) and is electric and doesn’t qualify for any of the energy grants. Because of condo rules and how it’s built I can’t do a heat pump or any other options. Replacing is over $10 000 and unfortunately it can’t be fixed. I’ve tried united way and March of Dimes and neither help individuals unfortunately. 😩 Any ideas?!

ODSP file after appeal?

For those of you who appealed a denial, did you receive a copy of your file? I thought I had read that I was supposed to receive a copy of it within 4-6 weeks but it’s been 2 ½ months and I’ve still received nothing. There’ve been multiple times where things have gone wrong through this process (including my file falling through the cracks between application and financial eligibility) so this feels like yet another, but thought I’d check here first to see if this is normal.

If you received your file, was it by mail or electronically?
If you had to request it, how/where did you do that?

Updated diagnoses for appeal?

I’m in the appeal process for ODSP. The main reason I was denied according to the paperwork I received is that they didn’t have medical justification for my extensive symptoms (big one being significant fatigue) so didn’t consider it substantial. 🙃 Since I was denied and requested an appeal, I’ve seen a new specialist that I’d been waiting for and got a diagnosis that essentially explains it all.

So, I’m wondering if anyone has insights on whether I should submit that specialists report as additional medical evidence for the appeal - or if they won’t consider it because I didn’t have the official diagnosis at the time the ODSP decision was made?

TIA!

Furnace replacement funding help?

Wondering if anyone knows of any local or provincial (or anything?!) assistance programs that’ll help low income folks with the cost of replacing a broken furnace/AC?

Unfortunately our very (very) old furnace/AC unit stopped working this week and not surprisingly needs replaced. However we live in a condo and it’s a very specific type of AC/furnace that works for this condo so the replacement cost is over 10 k (yes I’ve shopped around) and double what I was planning for. I’m a low income single parent currently navigating my own significant medical challenges on top of my child’s disabilities and haven’t been able to work for a while (currently in the process of trying to get ODSP)… Both my child and I have medical issues that require AC so we can’t wait to replace it.

Does anyone have any advice on anyone/anything that I can reach out to help with the cost of HVAC replacement?! 😩😩😩 Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated!

Appeal timeline?

For anyone who’s recently appealed an ODSP denial, wondering how long it’s typically taking to get an appeal trial date these days?

Internal review

Curious if this is possible or if there’s anyone who has requested an internal but it wasn’t done within the 30 days, so an appeal was filed - but could they still do the internal review while awaiting the appeal? Apparently some of my medical info was submitted after the ODSP decision was made so I was really hopeful the internal review would have a favourable outcome and get me approved (I have complex medical needs, chronic cancer and resulting disabilities). The wait and stress of having to go through an appeal is already having a negative effect on me so wondering if there’s still a way to have an internal review done…??

Would appreciate any insights…

Internal review time?

For those of you who’ve done an internal review after initial denial, how long did you wait for the decision? I’m at 29 days and my understanding is they’re legally obliged to make a decision within 30 days - so what do I do next if they don’t respond by tomorrow? I’ve already fallen through the cracks once with my application (and as a result it took over 6 months for them to do the financial assessment and get me the medical paperwork 😩) so I’m feeling pretty defeated. Ugh.

Cannula reactions?

Does anyone have skin reactions to the Libre cannula? I also react to the glue and whatnot on the sensor but have mitigated that with antihistamine spray and tegaderm under the sensor. But by about day 6 I get super itchy/irritated under the sensor and when I eventually take it off, it’s always very red and irritated specifically where the cannula was inserted. I could typically tolerate it enough to get through the full wear cycle with the 2, but with the longer wear time with the 3, the itching is now too much to last the full 14 days and I end up needing to remove it around day 10 so I’m losing many days. I really like the smaller size of the 3 and the itching still was incredibly irritating with the 2 something back doesn’t make sense. Anyone deal with this/have any advice?! 😩 I don’t seem to react the same to the Dexcom but don’t have coverage for it unfortunately. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Rheumatologist

Wondering if anyone local has seen a rheumatologist to explore ME/CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome)? I have a whole bunch going on medically but my PCP is in Toronto so not familiar with local specialists. All the rheum offices here we’ve found specifically say they won’t see chronic fatigue. 🥴 So I am looking for any recommendations on who I can get a referral to…?! Would appreciate any insights!! TIA.
