Taking weeks to assess for a total loss, normal?

My car was hit in July in Southern California. I have dash cams, so the initial fault was very easy to figure out, and initially damages were estimated and I brought it to the recommended repair shop. While at the repair shop, their estimates were higher than Progressive’s, and Progressive decided it was likely a total loss, so I got my personal belongings and agreed for them to pick up the car for assessment. That was at the beginning of the month, so it’s been nearing 3 weeks. I’ve contacted my insurance agent on my side of the claim multiple times throughout, but he keeps letting me know he’s reached out to the other side (who is at fault) for updates, but hasn’t heard back. The car assessment is listed as pending. I’ve also had a rental this entire time on their dime, so I’m surprised they aren’t wrapping this up faster.

Is this a normal process? Should I be concerned that something else has happened to my car while being moved? I never even received confirmation it was totaled in the first place, just that they suspected as such and needed to assess it to confirm. I’ve gotten no other follow ups, am not sure where my car is located currently. I have travel coming up and am concerned that if they get back to me while I’m gone, I won’t be able to return the rental car in the allotted time frame and they’ll try to charge me for the extra time.

Any advice or thoughts would be helpful. Thanks.

My 330i was totaled by insurance

I was side swiped by someone who went into oncoming traffic to try to get around me. Thankfully I have dashcams. The damage is just cosmetic, but they got my driver door, mirror, side fender/wheel well and front bumper. I’m in Southern California and with parts and labor, they’re totaling the car.

Curious how others here haven handled getting the most out of the insurance payment. I know they’re going to low-ball, and I’ve only got 93k miles on it, single owner, meticulous records. I don’t have the energy to buying back the salvage title and parting it out or selling it directly, if I’m honest, so I’m wondering how anyone has countered insurance based on local listings? I’m having a hard time finding any similar cars in my area with mileage this low.

Where are Venice folk getting pizza now that Abbott’s is terrible?

Finally tried abbot’s again after the new owner took over and it was one of the worst pizzas we’ve ever had. Salty, mushy, bitter, cheese not set, sauce was flavorless… and that’s not to mention they’ve reduced the menu to a fraction of the options.

Anyways, what’s the next best local spot? Or any new places pop up worth trying?

Councilperson Traci Park seen parking (no pun intended) illegally at Brentwood Farmers market

Blocking others in for 45 minutes, as posted on Nextdoor.

Edit:
- I’m not the person who posted on Nextdoor, I was just reposting what they put there as I thought it was funny.
- they’ve added more pictures showing that she is in a redzone and the car that’s blocked here https://nextdoor.com/p/yFK6mYjSYLcb?utm\_source=share&extras=MTI1Mzg1NzI%3D&utm\_campaign=1779647246570&share\_action\_id=d2990338-d831-46ea-b597-5648e7e34150

Traci Park at the Venice Half Marathon

After being greeted by a mix of silence and several boos during her intro speech where she claimed to have greatly improved housing and homelessness issues in the area, Traci Park danced alone in front of the starting line of the Venice Half Marathon.
