Nice little charity shop find.
Found this in a charity shop yesterday for a fiver. Nice, solid and heavy as hell, it's 35 frigging kg! Arranged someone to collect it for us today and cracked on uncovering what was underneath. We found the makers plaque and it appears to have come from a local place who specialise in bespoke furniture. Fortunately, as you can see it was a pretty poor "up cycle" so a lot just scraped off with wallpaper scrapers 😂 but that eventually stopped so off out I went for an orbital sander.
As far as I can tell the people who butchered up cycled it they have slapped an all purpose primer on it without doing any sanding or anything then covering that with some Matt gray paint 🤷🏼♀️.
It's going to take some work and my main goal at the moment is to strip it back before I decide on the finish but I do know I'm not going to cover it up with gloss or anything.
I'm really excited to see where this goes and will post updates if there is any interest 😁.
