Rolled my first cigars
I’ll post the actual cigars right after I post this. I don’t know why I’m not able to post photos with a video on Reddit. This was my first ever cigar, and the mold really helped make it half decent.
Curing tobacco in a storm shelter
So me and my friend just picked a small amount of the tobacco we’re growing, and I needed somewhere that was somewhat cooler than Oklahoma heat / somewhere I could control humidity. I settled on our storm shelter with a dehumidifier, and I just hung all our leaves in it this morning. It’s consistently 66-75% humidity, and the temps seem to be from high 70s to 81. 81 is the main temp during the day. The temp on my thermometer is so high because this was with lights on and me working. I’m hopeful to get a good cure!!! If anyone has any recommendations or suggestions for things I need to change, I would love the feedback!
Possible Tobacco Mosaic Virus?
For context, me and my friend decided we wanted to grow a few hundred tobacco plants cause it sounded fun, but now that the plants are getting bigger I’m worrying that they could have TMV. The second photo is of a normal big leaf that each plant has on the bottom. The bigger the leaf, the less of this weird color variation they seem to have. They all look great (besides bugs eating leaves), and they have been growing extremely well over the last month. Every plant out of the hundreds we have seem to have this weird green variation on the leaves. At the beginning of the season we put nitrogen in the soil, and when the plants were about 2-3 weeks planted we sprayed them with sevin liquid. We’re in mid east Oklahoma planting these. If anyone would happen to know if this is TMV or some sort of weird growing pattern, that would be a great help to us and thank you for your help!
