OG Buffy fans?

Are there any 40+ age fans here who posted on The Bronze Board, or had a geocities or angelfire account or a Live Journal? Or who went to Writercon 2005, 2006, or 2007? I am multi-character/mutli-ship fan who is in the midst of a Tony-loss angst fueled rewatch, and I would love to reminisce with fen my age.

I love that the Buffyverse still has new fans every day (ZOMG YAY!), but it makes me sad when y’all say that Xander and Angel and Cordelia looked “old” in 1998, call 27 year old Jenny Calendar “middle aged” and tell me that BtVS didn’t understand consent because it was the late 1900s, LOL. (Trust me, you’ll all understand when you check in on the Bridgerton fandom in 2049.)

Anyway — anyone who took a Buffy college course in 2003 or saw the “Once More With Feeling” interactive movie tour in 2006 wanna chat?

That’s gangsta: 1967

My paternal grandparents, my older cousin, my dad in shades, and my aunt and uncle, Oklahoma City, 1967.

My dad’s family was Dust Bowl Okies. My dad spent part of his childhood picking fruit in CA and living at Weedpatch government camp (featured in the Grapes of Wrath). Dad graduated high school (two years late with 4 Ds and an F) in a rural town of 800. He left Oklahoma for the western U.S., became a journeyman electrician and then an Electrical Engineer.

This is his “made it” pic. He was 30 and had saved almost every dime he made (except for that suit and shades). His dad died 2 years later, and he built his mom a new house. I was born the next year, and the grocery store he invested in put me through college. I married a college prof and our university jobs paid for a great education for our only child, and he got offered full-rides to four universities this fall.

From the Grapes of Wrath to the lower Ivies in 3 generations (the “generations” just happen to span 1937-2008).
