Mary Mctavish sold us a Pomeranian with congenital defects

We got our dog from Mary Mctavish recommended by winterhaven Pomeranians and he unfortunately has genetic disorders. Be careful using her as a breeder if winterhaven recommends her.

Very weird encounter with Pomeranian breeder outside of Toronto

Hi,
I bought my Pomeranian from a small breeder recommended by a very well known large Pomeranian breeder. They said she was great and recommended her because they didn’t currently have litters. I went up to visit the breeder as she had a litter of 3 male Poms. Two orange sable and one blonde. We made an appt to go see them. She wouldn’t let us inside in the middle of winter but let us meet the mom and then brought out the three pups. We played with them and then asked to go discuss which one we wanted in our car. She brought them inside and told us to text her when we had decided and she would come back out. We chose the one named “hunter” and texted her. She brought him outside by himself and we got to hold him. I know she knew which one we chose because she brought him out by himself and he was the right puppy. She wanted us to take him that day but we wanted to come back that week. We left. The next week we set a date for me to come pick him up. I get there and she brings out a different puppy. The other orange sable. They looked very similar but I have had Poms and could easily tell them apart. Maybe not to a random person but I had been staring at photos all week and know Poms different features relatively well. I immediately told her it was the wrong dog and she kind of argued with me, then I said I’ll bring out the photos of the one we chose. Her husband told her to bring out the other dog and so she did but claimed he hadn’t had his flee bath or groom before to which I responded I didn’t care I just wanted the right dog. I drove “hunter” home and named him Wilson. I immediately took him to the vet and they ran his microchip. She had registered the other dog to me so I immediately had her fix the microchip registration and asked the vet to do their standard checkup. All seemed good. a few months go by and I’m out walking Wilson and he has what seemed to be a neurological event. An hour later he has another and we rush him to emergency vet. At the vet he has one more. We end up seeing neurologists doing tests and finding out he has a liver shunt.i think these are genetic? Breeder is claiming she doesn’t even know what it is and has to do “research”. I have such a funny feeling. I am now paying about 14,000 for this whole thing. (Also make sure you get pet insurance)
