New to SCA & feeling discouraged

I joined the SCA with a background in historical research, event planning and garment construction.

I helped a local new member with dressmaking and shared an event concept with her.
She claimed 100% credit for my work, blocked me, and took my event idea to the local officers to host as her own. The local group adores her, so speaking up felt like a losing battle.
I recently moved to a brand new kingdom/barony, giving me a clean break, but this left a terrible taste in my mouth about local politics and credit.
Questions for long-time SCAdians:
1. Is it worth starting fresh in a new barony, or is it like this everywhere?
2. Has this ever happened to you?

Children’s book getting lots of views but almost no sales—what marketing strategies actually worked for you?

Hi everyone,
I just published my first children’s picture book. It’s a story centered around wildlife conservation, and a portion of the proceeds supports the Cheetah Conservation Fund.
The frustrating part is that we’ve had hundreds of thousands of views on TikTok and lots of positive comments, but almost no sales. It seems like people enjoy watching the content but aren’t converting into buyers.
I’m trying to figure out where I’m spending my time most effectively.
For those of you who have successfully marketed children’s books:
What actually moved the needle?
Did social media ever translate into sales for you?
Were school visits, libraries, bookstores, parenting groups, reviewers, or something else more effective?
If you were launching your very first children’s book today, where would you focus your energy?
Since the book supports conservation, I’d also love ideas for how organizations like the Cheetah Conservation Fund could help spread awareness in ways that genuinely lead to readers rather than just views.
Thanks! I’m eager to learn from people who’ve already been through this.
I also want to stress they did all the illustrations myself. I have extensive training doing Disney style animation and I spent 10 hour days for several months doing the artwork alone. I started with the background illustrations and then hand drawing all of the characters.

Moving to Kingdom of Caid tomorrow

Hi everyone!
I’m excited to join Kingdom of Caid! I’m an illustrator, Costumer and lifelong fantasy lover with a particular obsession with dragons, belly dance and mythical creatures.
My family is in the middle of moving to North Las Vegas near Mount Charleston, so I’m looking forward to finally being closer to my old Renn Fair, and a community that shares my interests.
My former kingdom is Atenveldt.

why are people obsessed with me not camping?

I am new to the Sca and people have been literally on my as* over the fact that I don’t want to camp. I have a lot of health issues and I was in a car accident that almost left me paralyzed. Instead of offering to help me unload my car and get my tent up and going.. they would like to complain that I don’t like to camp.

It constantly comes up on my Facebook and in conversations. Why can’t they just face the fact that I don’t like it? A lot of my friends don’t like to camp I don’t know why this is an issue!

Affordable Bridal manufacturing

has anyone used alibaba or any manufacturers here in the states?
I’m looking for affordable, blank ballgowns that I can embellish and hand dye to make custom, one of a kind wearable art.
