So we aren’t 100% finished, not every thing was in stock ( besta glass doors) and we haven’t bought the mount for the monitor or the TV that will mount above the Eket units (which should have lights in but we forgot the cables. We also need to buy some additional cabling but you should essentially get the gist of it from this.
Build starts Sunday but did the main shop already.

Considering the current price of Pi5 I have had a 16gb pi5 drop into my hands for the equivalent of not much more than postage and packing (before any one asks, no I can’t get any more it was a one off bargain but entirely legit). So I find myself looking at finally building a games console and my historical memory or Retropie (I did get hands on a pre release Pi before launch day 14 years ago) and subsequent discoveries led me here (Retropie is dead, long live Batocera).
I have a spare 64gb ssd in the drawer and I just ordered a power supply, active cooler and a usb3 to ssd connector. Sounds like I can build the batocera image from my windows laptop and then dive into the physical console setup (Xmas present laser cutter coming in useful here) and then the gathering of ROMS will follow.
Before I jump completely into this journey, any nuggets of wisdom out there I should be considering?
