Is my store being targeted? Massive bot surge/click fraud on Meta

Is my store being targeted? Massive bot surge/click fraud on Meta

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for technical insight and whether others are experiencing a massive shift in traffic patterns over the last 5 days.

I’ve been running a stable e-commerce brand for a while now, spending consistently around $2,000/day on Meta Ads. Performance has been very solid and stable for months until 5 days ago when the data went completely went off.

The "Shift" (Last 5 Days):

  • Active Users: Normally, I have 2–15 people on the site at once (Shopify Live View). Suddenly, it’s spiked to 40–200 consistently.
  • CTR Jump: My CTR was a healthy 4–5%. It has suddenly jumped to 30% out of nowhere.
  • Zero Intent: Despite the massive traffic and spend, I have zero Add-to-Carts and zero purchases from this surge.

I checked my Microsoft Clarity recordings to see what these people are doing.

  • They stay on the store for almost exactly 160 seconds.
  • There is zero scrolling and zero clicks. They just land and sit there until the session ends.

Is it possible someone is intentionally targeting my store with a bot attack to drain my budget? who can be doing that? i tried to turn off the high ctr ads and duplicated them but it was ok for few hours and started to happen again with the new ads.

The 160-second "no-activity" session feels like a very specific script fingerprint. Has anyone seen this recently? If I was being targeted by a competitor, would it look like this? Its coming from all across USA...

Im lost, its so frustrating, really dont know what to do anymore...

I usually had 1k-1.5K sessions, suddenly its 7K.

Shopify showing huge weird traffic spike from Facebook but no spend increase, anyone seen this?

Hey guys,

Since yesterday I’m seeing something really strange on my Shopify store and I’m trying to understand if something on Meta’s side is wrong and how its effecting tha ads or the store..

Here’s what’s happening:

  • 2.7K sessions in a day (way above normal), usually its 1k.
  • 100 users are online suddenly.
  • Traffic is mostly attributed to Facebook
  • My ad spend is completely normal (no increase)
  • CTR is showing around 20% which is insane.
  • Sales are just “normal”, not matching the traffic spike

So basically:
Traffic exploded, but performance didn’t scale with it. no ATC and the conversion rate collapsed.

It doesn’t feel like real users. The sessions vs visitors ratio is super off, and the graph looks very unnatural.

Things I’m wondering:

  • Could this be Meta crawler/bot traffic?
  • Anyone seen inflated CTR like this recently?
  • How its effecting the campaigns or the learning?
  • Am I paying for this crap?

Would really appreciate if anyone has seen something similar in the last few days.

Trying to figure out if I should ignore this data or act on it.

Thanks
