Necroscience, the scientific study of the afterlife

I'm on a subreddit called r/whatisthis and I see a post that reads like this :

[ r/nosleep doen't have an images or links option ]

Here is the original post, text copy-pasted :

I received a piece of physical mail delivered to my mailing address with my name spelled wrong and this is what is said. Is it legit?

It says :

This is to let you know that very soon, a very prestigious university of which you may have already heard is going to be launching the world's first ever necroscience department, staffed with a full roster of scientists who have dedicated their lives to the study of biology, chemistry and physics as they pertain to necrology.

The university has chosen to remain anonymous for the time being but we are writing to you early just so that you will be prepared for the opportunity once it is gone public.

Those interested in attending would have to relocate to Europe.

[fancy anonymous logos, map of Europe, more text]

Necroscience, if you hadn't already known, is the scientific study of the afterlife.

Observable afterlife includes ghosts and zombies, so that's mainly what has been studied so far, but discoveries are being made everyday that call into question the other forms of afterlife that have not yet been discussed in any known folk lore or mythology.

McKendrick's first law of dying is that there are three stages of being : life, life after death, death

********

Department of Necrobiology

The field of necrobiology dates as far back to the Egyptians, if not as early as the Indus Valley civilization.

You will have the opportunity to train in a real lab and actually analyze the remains of real zombies and to better understand how death after life

More information available shortly.

Department of Necro-optics

The earliest known experiments with necro-optics go back as the Chinese Qin Dynasty though the field itself is likely way older.

McKendrick's third law of dying states that is possible to be in life after death beyond the third dimension, though McKendrick admitted to never having personally ever observed it.

Text ends.

So what do you think? Real or fake?

Post ends.

I think it's fake, I vote. This is just creative writing and reddit has a lot of people who love the fuck out of creative writing so that's what they do. It's well written but not in line with observable reality. I upvote a "fake" comment and move on with my life.

Time passes.

A letter comes to my door, addressed to me sort of, with my name spelled wrong.

"You are cordially invited to an exclusive ghost interview. You are not allowed to record audio or video but you are allowed a pen an paper. Here is the time and date."

What the phoque is this? If true, this would be the opportunity of a lifetime. I have to go right? I'm absolutely going to go. I'll tell you all about it after.

I just went to the post again to see if there was an update but it's been deleted.

A conspiracy theorist dies and goes to heaven...

A conspiracy theorist dies and goes to heaven.

The angels meet the conspiracy theorist and tell him : "you lead a very moral and upright life. As a reward for your discipline and sacrifice, we will answer any question that you have about any subject.

The conspiracy theorist asks : "what actually happened in 1947 at Roswell?"

The angels reply : "it was just a weather balloon."

The conspiracy theorist gasps aloud : "goodness gracious! This goes all the way to the top!"

(an old one but a good one!)
