I run a sub for a stock ticker. Naturally this invokes a lot of emotion depending on the stock price and could be a prime target of bots.

What I don’t understand is how to identify bots, if any? Are there strategies, mod tools, etc to help?

I do have crowd control on (highest setting) and have bot bouncer, but realistically have no clue how to identify a bot.

Also wondering if there is a way to see any serial down voters? I’m talking about a sub member who may have joined for the sole purpose of down voting.

Is there any mod tool or method to weed these sub members?

There has been a very laissez-faire attitude toward moderation around this sub since it was started. This was intentional and could be used for retail sentiment monitoring.

Unfortunately the sub has devolved to a point where there is rarely any intelligent conversation and certain users spamming the same old story (over and over and over again).

THIS WILL NO LONGER BE THE CASE.

The ‘Shitpost’ flair has been removed, that was an epic fail.

Low effort posts (especially from users with patterns of them) will be deleted.

If mods have to delete your post for lack of value, you will be flagged. If it occurs twice or more you will be banned in an escalating fashion starting with 3 days up to and including full ban.

Comments will still be monitored with less scrutiny, but if a user is hijacking every posted thread with the same old BS they will be banned in the same escalatory nature.

THIS DOES NOT MEAN….
-Every bear post will be deleted. Well thought out and articulated bear cases are welcome.
- memes are not welcome. A well timed meme on the sub can be funny.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
- Most importantly we need some intelligent posts to kick off good discussions. So post quality content!!
- Report the BS (They will be looked at given time)
- So many on this sub talk about “the bots”. Point them out via mod mail and they will be removed if obvious.

This sub was once a place you could come for good information and discussion. Not certain it will ever return there but it’s time for some change.

Mods never want to be the gatekeeper of truth, you all should know to do your own DD on what is said here. MODS WILL HOWEVER NOW BE THE GATEKEEPERS OF SLOP, SO DONT POST IT!

Open to the subs thoughts here, anything missing that should be ban-able?
