I guess I am a celebrity now

Recently Stacey was out of town for a thing. Apollo and I were home alone. I/we had put off doing anything about dinner until it got late enough that everything was closed and we just kind of got stuck in "I dunno; what do you want to eat?"

Eventually it was time to go pick up Stacey at the airport.

We decided to drive-thru Taco Bell because why not? So we got Taco Bell and now we don't have a ton of time so we're eating in the car. I'm trying to be neat but eventually there's a fair bit of taco on my shirt. Sigh. (I don't feel like a spas but it kinda seems like this is happening more often.)

We get to the airport and I brush as much off my shirt as I can but it's still kind obvious. We go inside and meet Stacey at baggage claim. I'm standing there and a young lady comes up and says, "uh, are you, uh, Mr. Technodad?" I smile and say yes I am, and we chat briefly and she asks for a selfie, which I always enjoy.

She takes a selfie and heads off somewhere else. Am I'm thinking, "I guess I am a celebrity now."

And then I'm thinking, now there's a young lady with a selfie of me with Taco Bell on my shirt.

Mr Technodad Streaming with a Special Guest Star

Hey everyone! Mr. Technodad here.

Thursday, July 16 at 2:00 Pacific (more or less) I'm going to be doing a livestream with Special Guest Star Eret! I have generously given you more than TWELVE hours of notice.

How did this happen? What are we going to talk about? What is the point of all this anyway?

All good questions that I should have been asking myself up to this point. But that's not my style! I haven't even decided what camera to use. Maybe I'll stream with my phone? Anything is possible when you don't do any planning.

Anyway, tune in if you want to hear two Earthlings talk about Space. And maybe driver updates; I dunno. Anything can happen!

A Message Concerning Technoblade

Hey everyone. Mr. Technodad here.

Four years after my son Alex, known to so many as Technoblade, passed away from sarcoma, his community remains one of the most meaningful parts of the legacy he left behind.

You make art, videos, jokes, and tributes. You look after each other. Together, we have built a loving and inclusive community. It means more than can ever be properly said.

Tributes are welcome, and they always will be. Fan art, cosplay, quotes, and creative works made in his memory are ways of celebrating him, and those works speak to my heart. They speak to all of our hearts.

I have recently become aware of concerns around a YouTube channel imitating Technoblade's voice, mannerisms, look, name, and persona.

When this was first brought to me by one of Alex's YouTube friends, I was under the impression that it might be a one-time tribute. I did not know what to think. It was startling and emotionally complex to be presented with, and when people asked me about it at the time, the only honest answer I had was: inconclusive.

However, this has continued for several weeks, and it is now clear that an identity is being built as an ongoing public persona. That is a different thing from a tribute.

Many others have since reached out for my opinion. The situation is complicated by a simple truth: despite being "Technodad," I cannot speak unilaterally on behalf of all of Alex's family, friends, and fans, who no doubt have a variety of reactions. But after careful consideration, I have reached a conclusion I can give from my own perspective, as Technoblade's father and as the person Alex entrusted to look after what he left behind.

I am asking for this to please stop, and for the persona in question to cease.

No blessing or permission for this, or for any similar persona now or in the future, has been given.

I encourage anyone interested in becoming a content creator to find their own voice. Show us who you are! A sincere presentation of your authentic self will always be better than an imitation of someone else.

I am also asking the community not to harass anyone over this. That is not what Alex would have wanted. I do not believe there was malicious intent.

Technoblade never dies. He is in his videos, right where he left himself, still making us laugh, still reaching our hearts.

It's time to stop talking about how much we're talking about Technolarp

Ok, so this Technolarp guy hit the scene, right? And we all started talking about him. Fair enough. Seems on topic. But then it went too far, and so we started getting people talking about how much we're talking about Technolarp. Some people say we should stop talking about him; some say we should continue talking about him. But I say, that's gone too far. This talking about how much talking about him we're doing has got to stop! It's time to stop talking about how much we're talking about Technolarp.

^(PS. This is completely tongue in cheek.)

It's his birthday

Hey everyone.

I try to do something commemorating his birthday every year. And if I can't make it, you know, thoughtful or wise or whatever, at least I try to make it poetic or dramatic or whatever. And I just ... don't have it in me this year. When I think about him and try to collect my thoughts, all that I can think about is how much I miss him.

I love you guys.

Popping in here after not visiting for a while and seeing all the birthday wishes, that gave me so many feelings.

Anyway. I'm working on some sciencey videos. I hope you guys like asteroids.

Check out this program from the One of Us foundation

Hey everyone. Mr. Technodad here.

I'm writing today to tell you about Youth for Equity and Action, a leadership training program for people ages 14–18 created jointly by the One of Us Global Foundation and Impact Launch.

One of Us has always been about youth empowerment, and this program is designed to support and strengthen the leadership of the young people who take part in it.

Change can start small, and it can happen from the bottom up. Young people care deeply about issues affecting their communities, and this program gives them tools to help make a real difference. Beyond that, leadership developed early in life can grow into thoughtful, effective adult leadership.

The youth of today are more engaged and more values-driven than at any time I can remember. We need that.

This program teaches practical tools for understanding and addressing inequity in the world. To learn more, please check out the testimonial video here:

https://www.oneofusglobal.org/program...

I have taken the adult version of this training myself and I found it immensely powerful and aligned with my way of thinking. I can only wish I had access to this information at a younger age.

I would encourage any young person who wants to help make the world better to take a look. Tuition is on a sliding scale and there are scholarships available. Don't let money intimidate you, in this or in any other thing.

Thank you.
