AIO for distancing myself from my homophobic family?

I, 27M, have been dating someone for almost a year and a few weeks ago I took them to meet my family at a party. Everything was completely fine at the party itself except a few people seemed kinda cold. After the party, my mother told me that my partner made several people uncomfortable. I was pretty confused because they were super polite and mostly stayed by my side for the entire afternoon. For context, my partner is non-binary but genetically male. They have pink hair and acrylic nails but do not identify as trans or call themself a woman. I'm pretty masculine and can pass as straight very easily. Most of my family are very Evangelical (think fire and brimstone bible thumpers) but they've always said they are fine with me being openly gay. They seemed fine with my ex who was also fairly masculine.

I talked to a few of my cousins who my mother said were uncomfortable and they said they weren't uncomfortable at all. My aunt, uncle, mother, and step father were apparently the ones uncomfortable with my partner. Weirdly enough, my grandfather is the one that bonds best with my partner aside from my sisters. My mom told me that it would be better if I no longer brought my partner to family events unless they take their nails off and deepen their voice. I told her that I am not going to any more family events if my partner isn't invited. AIO?

Thoughts? M27

I lost 150 lbs a few years ago and since then people have told me I am attractive and I get frequently hit on by guys, but I feel like people are just being nice. What do y'all think?
