Safety concerns for dummies
Hi, I just did the jailbreak a few days ago and it's been absolutely marvelous.
That said, I'm bit paranoid towards safety (like malware/leaking data). I DO trust the jailbreak itself and the more common features tested by thousands around the world, but I'm more concerned when installing more niche "extras", for example, a better dictionary for KOreader (StarDict format).
I've found a post on r/koreader with a Portuguese dictionary that has very few upvotes and comments. Is it something I should be worried? Or there's no real security risks here? Could a simple dictionary for KOreader come with malware or breach the safety of my Amazon account (adress, email, payment methods)?
I'm not a tech-savvy guy, but I searched and found out the StarDict basically needs ".ifx", ".dict", ".syn" and ".ifo" files. But other than those, the said folders have files like ".gitattributes", a few icons in ".bmp" and ".ico" formats wich I don't even know if they are necessary or what they're for, and a broken ".html"...Just that.
This is the reddit post and this is the github if wou guys wanna check.
Finally, one last semi-related question: once I've done the jailbreak, it's all good and running, all my books I get on PC and transfer to kindle via USB, is there any reason to stay online on my kindle? Do I miss on anything by keeping it on airplane mode "forever"?
Thak you all (in advance) for the help!
